LOL, one favourable decision for Carney and now everyone wants to blow the puppet Dave off.

He's been a disaster - multiple salary cap scandals, (the first one was dealt with so horribly that it lead to the Bulldogs winning the competition 2 years later with the same squad + SBW and Thurston, ****ing lol) horrible media rights negiotiations, (especially the radio rights which he has complete control over but bends over to Singleton who treats league like shit with broadcasts out of a studio in Sydney) consistently dictated to by Nein on the coverage of league on TV, (****, they even forced the Warriors/Easts semi-final on delay into Sydney a few season back, **** me) detioriation of the quality of officialdum under his reign, etc etc etc etc.

The guy is a puppet that couldn't hit a bull in the arse with a long handed shovel, **** off Dave.

Pros:
-Generally good handling of scandals, seems to improved this over time. Melbourne cap scandal was handled better than the Dogs, and since the Brett Stewart **** up the NRL seems more reluctant to involve themselves in club issues. We'll see.
-Game is growing and has recovered well since the Super League disaster

Cons:
-No clear plan for the future.
-Gives politician answers or worse, 'umm...ahhh..' when quizzed on the tough issues.
-botched previous TV deal, and continued to justify it by talking down the NRL
-Has let incompetent referees bosses steal the spotlight for far too long
-While the game is growing, due to points 1 and 3 above he has limited this potential, and this is his biggest failing. We should not be in a position where we lose stars to a pissant sport like the AFL, the game should be shown on television at a decent time nationwide

Very much agree with the TV issue - NRL gets v. good ratings and has been undervalued compared to the AFL. We've been ripped off.

But in his defence I think his plan for the future has been okay - he has been a steady pair of hands, overseen the steady transition of the Gold Coast into the game and hopefully he'll announce a second Brisbane team/Central Coast team this year.

A big test for Gallop will come this year when the new TV rights are negotiated because he failed badly there in the past.
