Power rankings are another catalyst implemented by the NRL in their attempt to mirror American competitions (particularly the NBA). The All Star's concept, fantasy leagues, youth comps etc....Not a bad premise considering how intuiging and well run US competitions are

Basically, if a team wins, it goes up, and if it loses it goes down..

It is a fascinating system..

Yeah that does sound quite interesting - although I suppose the power rankings would pan out very similarly to the actual ladder by the end of the year.

One game is enough to outweigh all of last year...

It is an interesting thing. You can't judge the Bulldogs at all from last year, they have quite a different team.

It's just a form guide basically...yeah there's no real criteria, but it's usually a decent indicator of where most teams are at. It would be interesting to use it as a basis for your tipping and see how you go.

i'd have Newcastle higher tbh, they were rampant.
