What I find interesting, is the call for billion dollar broadcast rights for RL and increases to players salaries etc.
Yet people still want free internet RL.

The smaller subscription type boradcast I think is the ideal situation.
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Couldn't get it on Justin but found the Tigers v Warriors on rugbyweb.yolasite.com...there are a few unnamed links that you have to sort through until you find the game you want.

The Brain or anyone else can you please pm me a link for today's game I'm currently in Argentina and I need to see this game, I'd be truly grateful. In regards to streaming matches they should do subscriptions like the NBA does it's super cheap and fantastic quality if you have a decent laptop and a Hd cord that can be connected to a Tv. The NRL is really behind in regards to the Internet viewership access, it needs to be addressed in the next TV deal.

the nrl is really stupid on this one. first they can reach a global audience (admittedly niche) if they licence proper live streams. second, i get the shits especially on fridays when here in brisbane the broncos/qld game is always the live game on channel nein.

they should at least allow channel 9 to stream both games live so you can go to their website and get the other game if that's what you want to watch instead of the one they're broadcasting live into the market you're in. every game should be available live in some form, tv, cable, or internet.

But channel 9 is a fscking dinosaur, still breathing but extinct already. apart from the NRL and Top Gear i never watch it, or any other commercial TV channel. Its not just sport they treat like a piece of shit, it's also for example, top-quality TV shows which they royally fsck over their timeslots just so they can get in an extra 20mins of that fatuous dill eddie mcguire grinning like a retarded monkey.

The media landscape in this country is totally stuffed. They are the walking dead and they don't even realise it. Newspapers, radio, tv its all rotten to the core and fighting a vicious, costly, and pointless rearguard action to protect their "intellectual assets" (what an oxymoron) like Hitler yelling "no retreat" to the generals of his devastated armies in 1945 as the red army strangled Berlin. Wenck will save us! Foxtel, for all their stupid faults, at least tries, the poor dears, even as they fail miserably.

I don't have Foxtel. I have ADSL2. I was trying to log into NRL last night to check the Live Scores and it just wouldn't load up. I started searching for the game to be online from one of those sites and found it and watch the Tigers v Warriors and the following game.
If the NRL are going to provide us with bad service I will always support those sites that provide me with the service I want FOR FREE!

Also, last year i could go the NRL and watch whichever game I wanted to that was played that previous week. They have since changed it where they now replay the games but unlike before, I have to wait until my game is up to view therefore I may have to wait hours or days until they replay the game. Piss poor decisions.

Mate, that's exactly what I mean. The NRL and the media organisations they licence the games to make terrible decisions about their websites and their streaming policies and then they have the hide to complain about it or launch legal actions when their consumers resort to "illegal" ways to access their product.

Last week I went to the NRL site to get the live score of the Roosters game and I was shocked, absolutely shocked, at the quality of the NRL site. It's a complete step backward to what they had in previous years. Normally when I don't get the Roosters game here in Brisbane live, in the past I listened to Hadley on the radio and used the NRL live score update site. It was acceptable in the past. This time, their completely shitty live score site drove me off that and onto a live stream of the Channel 9 vision.

And just on that, what exactly are they complaining about with these streams? The "illegal" stream of the Channel 9 vision I saw last Friday week had all the ads and stuff in it.

To be honest after I watched it on the web, I recorded the Foxtel replay of the Channel 9 broadcast to watch on Saturday. Like all Foxtel games it doesn't have the mid-game ad breaks; apart from it not being live of course, much nicer than the original 9 broadcast. (can't do nuthin' about the bullshit mid-commentary promotions though).

They really need to give their consumers better ways to be able to see all games live, with or without cable TV and residence in certain geographical locations.

The problem is they "de-bundle" the internet rights from the TV broadcast rights. Which is bullshit. I'm sure that Channel 9 at least would live-stream both their games if they could (well maybe not, as they are dickheads at 9, but a smarter broadcaster would do this).

The NRL doesn't (and arguably shouldn't) care about whether it is difficult for people to watch games as long as they are getting top dollar for the TV rights (which is a separate argument). Networks care about exclusivity, this inflates the TV rights deal, and unfortunately that marginalises people in certain markets. I completely share your point of view, though, I think NRL broadcasting is lagging and the new deal needs to address some key issues.

I think the revision of the anti-siphoning laws addressed a couple of these points. Not sure about the internet, but I think the broadcasters (like Nine with the NRL on a Friday night) could use their other networks to show the game live. For instance, on Friday, Parra vs. Penrith would have been live on Nine and Canberra vs. Brisbane could have been live on Go. I'm not too sure whether Nine plans to take advantage of that new option.

Overall though, the NRL (and Nine especially) is chronically bad at sorting out these broadcasting arrangements.
