Gold Coast join hunt for Bulldogs centre Jamal Idris
The last line really irks me, maybe I'm being too politically correct but isn't the whole point of doing something for a charity or position (such as the one mentioned above) all meant to be for intrinsic values?
I'm not having a shot at anyone or any club in particular here because it's across the board but requesting the government to make a position just so that he they can play with their salary cap surely goes against all the ethics and morals that these clubs preach, especially the Bulldogs who always go on about their 'no dickhead policy'. Surely an organsiations values and morals apply to all their business practices not just their recruitment.
I can cop that Inglis accepted a boat but I can't cop that he could potentially be earning a 100k pay cheque every year from a charity set out to help indigenous people. If it's your full time job then sure everyone needs to make a living but it's the part of Rugby League that makes me sick now. Clubs & players playing off on the good will of others.
Keen to hear other people's opinions on this because I've never really heard anyone bring it up and I may just be going overboard
ANOTHER week, another round of royal courtship for Bulldogs superstar Jamal Idris.
After last week's trip to Newcastle, Idris was yesterday spotted much further up the Pacific Highway in discussions with Titans officials on the Gold Coast.
The Daily Telegraph has learned Idris hit the holiday strip on Tuesday afternoon to inspect the club's $23 million Centre of Excellence prior to a dinner with Titans CEO Michael Searle and coach John Cartwright.
He spent the night at a Surfers Paradise hotel and lunched with Indigenous All Stars teammate Preston Campbell and other high-profile Titans yesterday.
It's also understood that Searle extended Idris and his manager, Sam Ayoub, a formal offer believed to be worth more than $400,000 a season.
It's the second offer the Idris camp has fielded in the past fortnight, following on from Newcastle's rich bid.
Idris, however, will not make a decision until the Bulldogs finalise their offer. All three clubs are offering the dreadlocked three-quarter the chance to become an Aboriginal ambassador.
