  • West Tigers chasing Blair

how the fark can they do this?? it alreadys looks like there $394349839083 over the cap, and they recently resigned lawrence for 400k a year, and Blair is asking $500k a year!!! marshall, farah, ellis, tuquiri, galloway, and heighington would already be on massive money, there is no way they could legaly afford him!

    $Marshall = $Carney
    $Farrah = $Pearce
    $Ellis = $Myles
    $Lawrence = $SKD
    $Galloway = $FPN
    $Heighnington = $Anasta

Plus we have been spending up signing youngsters like Mose, Kennedy, Maubs, JWH, Friend, etc.

Their roster looks similar to ours in terms of player $'s.

.....and if you believe the newspapers we were looking at Blair as well....

What Blair's manager is asking and what he will get will be like chalk and cheese.

But I'm sure the Tigers will be desperate to get any big forward on the market especially a quality player.

I would say that with some of these long term signings that clubs are really just gambling on the cap being increased substantially come 2013 and are offering back ended deals.

Some players like Dugan are smart enough to extend their deal with their current club until the end of 2012 to see what happens with the cap and maximise his return.

lol...grow up...I bet you get all defensive every time Roosters are accused of being over the cap, which is every bloody time we sign someone. Don't be one of those people.

I can't remember a time we've ever been convicted of being over the cap.

Perhaps having the Schu as the arbiter of such things gives us a cover.

Sika Manu at half the price would be a better bet

Why would anybody want to spend that much on one of the laziest forwards going around

Blair is just a who cares forward

We have a very solid working relationship with the cap, the NRL create it and Nick Politis ignores it.

                  That works!

Nah we've been fined plenty of times but so has practically every club. It's usually due to unprovisioned rep payments, auto-upgrades due to performance or late rulings by NRL on third-party deals/benefits (i.e. Stuff they don't anticipate and you won't know till after the season is over).

Why were we even after him? We've got plenty of good young forwards, and it seems a little rushed to go after him when we haven't given them a chance to show their goods. We don't need to make major signings this early in the season. If it all goes pear shaped later in the season then see what's about. It just seems rash and extremely rushed to be looking at Blair. Glad we pulled out in the end but still...

The only thing we need to worry about in the immediate future is a replacement for Mini and possibly a new centre/winger if Naughton and Leilua don't live up to their potential. And at the end of 2012, there are plenty of players to fill those positions. It's virtually a who's who of backs at the end of 2012 anyway - Vidot, Hoffman, Dugan, Te'o, Croker, Zillman, O'Neill, Morris, Slater, Stewart and Gordon are all supposedly off contract. If we play it smart and spend very little this season, then we can make a play from one or even two of those should we so need to.

I doubt we were after him. I can't see Smithy being interested in a player asking for that much when we have so much back row depth. The media quote us as going after every half decent player coming off contract. All that hype about Dugan was BS. This is coming straight from his manager's mouth. I'd say it was the same when Hayne was off contract.

or faster than a speeding bullet Hayne?

Like when we were fined for giving me a blue Ford Falcon

Totally agree. Its a given that whenever a player wants to pump up his asking price, it is revealed that the roosters have "shown an interest".
