  • Picking over the Cronulla corpse.

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226027693001

The Daily Telegraph has learned that a plan to save the debt-ridden Cronulla Leagues Club by amalgamating it with the flush Sutherland District Trade Union Club has been unanimously voted down by the Tradies Board...

Is there anyone worth having a crack at now that the Nulla are on borrowed time?

Paul Gallen is a roosters fan but 30 years old.
Snowden most likely to return to Naughtcastle.
Gardner would a worthy replacement for Mini.
I'd have Jeremy Smith in a heartbeat.
The return of the Toops perhaps?

    Chook.

im an incoming director on that board and im very aware the tradies do not want a lump of hopless debt hanging around the clubs head, this is the best run club in the shire and is going gangbusters, just started another extensionwhich will further improve the quality of the club, 3 more cafes including an al fresco coffee shop and a ladies spa, we also have taken over caringbah rsl and that seems to have turned a corner with a top end chinese restraunt now on the 3rd floor; the big pluss at the tradies is staff attitude, the staff are trained and treated well, not underpaid , this has paid mega dividends in making it the best club around. so bad luck sharks, just go off and die.

Sounds great Stephen. Too bad more clubs around Sydney don't do the same thing. I have always believed happy staff are generally good staff.

I would sign Gallen or Snowden. I don't think we need Toups and I also don't believe he has ever come close to fulfilling his potential.

Break out the Gardasil Shire girls, the men will have nothing to do on a Saturday night anymore.

Luke Douglas to evenetually replace Ryles or Gardner to eventually replace mini.

I used to love following Toops, but we don't need him now. We have plenty of back rowers who are great attacking options but don't do the tough stuff up the middle.

Agree that the Sharks will give a few packs a touch up. One of the best packs in the comp IMO. The addition of Jeremy Smith is the missing link for their pack. I wouldn't mind following the Sharks in the draw as teams who have just played them will have plenty of bumps and bruises....Lucky their backline sux.

no Sharks players are worth buying

buying a 30yo Gallen for the money he'd command would be madness

                        I'd take Snowden and Douglas.

                        No question.

they have quite a few players i wouldnt mind getting my hands on. gardiner would be the primary one for sure as a replacement for mini. He wouldnt command anywhere near as much as a dugan at least atm and has a lot of mini about him already.

Aside from him obviously smith, gallen and snowden are the most attractive but i dont think we can afford to pay their asking prices and depth in the backrow is not exactly a concern atm. Douglas would be just as good and potentially less expensive considering he is living in their shadow a bit.

Of their fringies, I like the look of Broderick Wright, John Mannah and Andrew Clayton (used to play TYC for us a year or so ago before making TYC team of the year last year - no mug) and as a bolter, young stewart mills.

EDIT: Gallen for anasta would not be worst thing our club could ever do....not endorsing it just saying. 2 guys the wrong side of 30, 1 currently the best backrower in the comp the other struggling to adapt to his new position. both on decent coin both would love playing for us

Surely you don't mean Tim Smith?
