id buy gallen in a heartbeat, depending on his price that he was looking for, and maybe gardner, but that would be it, maybe jeremy smith to add some mongrel aswell but the rest of the team has to go play bush footy out in dubbo or somewhere

Gallen would be awesome, but we would have to punt a few players to get him here, and he'd be very expensive.

Only the props Douglas or Snowden are worthy of wearing an easts jumper.

Gardner may be a cheap alternative for Mini. But would like us to try some of our own at fullback first.

Gallen on the wrong side of 30. Unless the sharks go broke, he will never leave. Would have bought him in a heartbeat a couple of years ago. But he would command plenty of $$$$. Ditto Smith.

Toups has been bludging for 3 years. Took the cash, but killed his rep career.

                  The rest are just crap.

Not disrespecting Gallen, but he's sorta the token Sharks player for Australia. Given our current depth in that area I struggle to see what we'd do if we got him, would he play for the Jets with Conn? We'd just waste a few hundred grand out of our already stressed salary cap.

IMO we should go back and St George/Cronulla should have merged because they are EXACTLY the same part of Sydney. That or the Shire + the Gong because they are right next to each other (unlike Bexley/Mortdale/Hurstville and the Gong.)

If you live in St George you'll go to Sutherland/Bankstown for your big shopping and surf at Cronulla beach because you have to go through the Shire if you want to get to the Gong. The Gong breed most of the Dragons' local talent, so would be self-sufficient. That and Cronulla wouldn't just be the skinny 3rd "South Sydney" club that has the smallest plucking area because anything North/South is Merge territory, Northwest west is the Bulldogs, and further North is $ouff$, so they are this tiny boxed in part of South Sydney that IMO has more rights over the Illawarra because the Hurstville/Bexley/Mortdale Dragons need to travel through Cronulla/Sutherland to get to the Gong. Surely this goes through their minds on the way to WIN stadium from Kogarah?

Oh well my rant... I hope St Merge doesn't simply eat Cronulla + expand their territory. How ironic is it that they aren't even fielding a NSWRL team this season when they have such a HUUUGE catchment area? That said, their lower grades are ALWAYS Illawarra-based (Shellharbour/Steelers.) Why does the Gong need the Dragons?

If the Dragons keep playing cr@p + Cronulla gets better, maybe the above would gain some momentum? I was a Steelers fan at a young age and was SEVERELY p!ssed off when we made the finals + the Dragons knocked us out. Morris, Walker, Bailey, Ryles, Fitzgibbon, Creagh, Barrett...etc - The Illawarra provides more quality players than the St George region. I'd LOVE to see them sell their stake in the St Merge partnership and use the money to gobble up Cronulla/Sutherland. Far more logical IMO as an ex Steelers man (still got a Steelers jersey signed by Rod Wishart.)

Just to clarify, I became a Roosters fan well before the merger (family moved to East Sydney + the Gong is a $hithole, so I hold no feelings for the area or St Merge/The Steelers... all well behind me..)

That is possibly the most ill-informed statement I have ever read on this sight. You must be having a laugh?

If we ever sign Gallen he would be guaranteed the number 13. Why would you pay someone the money he would be demanding to start him off in your seconds team? But Gallen wouldn't be in our radar and we don't need him with our current depth. The only one I would consider is Gardner as a replacement for Mini and only if we couldn't get Dugan. But I am more than happy about giving the guys we have a go.

Would definitely take Albert Kelly off their hands.
This kid is going to be a dead set champion...

We already have a decent number 6. He had a few shockers at fullback last year if my memory is right; same as our current number 6. Can't see where you would play him.

Where would you play him Spanner? Really need to only bolster positions that we lack in. We have the best number 6 in the business.
