I think the Gaz deal was DODGY... sign a guy who's on 500k in France mid-season for less than 55k (because it's only half a season right ;p) when you're already #1 on the table. Suss... and given the issues the Storm and Souffs had proving legitimacy, I'm surprised this wasn't investigated at the time.

My understanding is that regardless they were fined for being 30k over the cap or something that season? (We were too when we got the spoon, but that was largely due to incompetence... I think it had something to do with Jake Friend's contract situation + accounting cock-ups being made due to trivial technicalities.)

When St Merge played, every player in their 13 had played some form of rep footy (barring Soward? Or has he done some country/city origin?) I'm suss, but meh... I'm a Roosters fan and hate St Merge, so a lot of it comes from that I think haha.
