  • This Is Our House really... sucks

Not bagging Bon Jovi (big fan) but I've just come to the realisation...
WTF did the NRL pay squillions for such a rubbish "anthem?" Sure it sounds alright at the stadium with the bass up full (any song does when you mix beer, footy and big bass.) I downloaded it from iTunes a few weeks ago and after having it come up on my iPods shuffle mode a few times its got me thinking... it's a RUBBISH pop song designed purely as an "anthem" with a boring chorus that simply doesn't ring home as an anthem. I don't sit there with shivers going down my spine and hairs raising on the back of my neck thinking YEAH THIS IS OUR HOUSE!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CHORUS!!!!

Instead I'm thinking... get a new song... this isn't even one of those fad songs that has me buzzing for a few weeks before getting a little boring, it's just... RUBBISH!
NRL needs a new "anthem..." IMO and has wasted a lot of money on this one. Can't see myself crate digging in 10+ years and with full on nostalgia be thinking "WOW THAT WAS 2011 WHAT A GREAT YEAR!!"

Oh well... my rant... I had to vent it out somewhere.

The funny thing is it was never written for the NRL.. It was an old b-side track they had lying around and when the NRL approached Bon Jovi they gave them the track to use for who knows how much money.

Since the 'Tina Turner' days, the marketing department of the arl/nrl have had a shocker. Who is the idiot/s responsible for making all these dumb choices?

And it would have cost a small fortune for that b-grade Bon Jovi song!

            The Guru's one was ok.

and who could forget the classic....... " blow that whistle, ref "

I agree and so does Darryl Brohman. On the Footy Show I believe he said words to the affect of "You'd think they would have gone for one of their bigger hits. I mean where does this song rank, 27th?"

Apparently it is used as the theme song by of one of the NFL teams in the States. Can't rememeber which one.

My favourites were the ARL's 1997 theme "It's my Game" and the ARL/NRL? "Tubthumping" theme.

The cut of the song that they use for the promos is bearable, but listening to the full song, it is poxy and whiney, definatly not one for the ipod playlist.

It's a generic anthem song written to sell to sporting bodies globally making Bon Jovi millions. I'm sure they care what you critics think about them.

                          Chook.
