  • Warriors fined by NRL

The National Rugby League has today issued the Warriors with breach notices totalling $5,000 following their Round 5 Telstra Premiership match against the Sydney Roosters.

A breach notice of $3,000 has been issued for the Warriors failing to enter the field of play to start the match when requested, while a second breach notice for $2,000 was issued for trainer Ruben Wiki making contact with an opposition player during an on-field altercation.

“In relation to the Warriors failing to enter the field of play when requested, we understand that there were some extenuating circumstances but teams are fully aware of their responsibilities to enter the field of play when required,” NRL Director of Football Operations, Mr Nathan McGuirk, said today.

“In regards to the second breach notice, Mr Wiki may have had the best of intentions but there is absolutely no reason for any trainer to place his hands on an opposing player or to become involved in the play in those circumstances.

“There are strict guidelines in place around the conduct of trainers on the field and failure to adhere to these can lead to a trainer being fined and possibly suspended.”

The Warriors have five working days to respond to the breach notices

Serves them right but it doesn't detract from losing ANOTHER match against them in NZ.

I can't believe the fuss about them being 3 minutes late going on to the field, but Wiki should know better, and is getting some karma.

Suck shit......as a trainer I know exactly how it feels to be made waiting by the oppposition and it is all about mind games......

It may not seem like much but when a team is in their zone, to have that broken by delayed play does definately come into it.....In saying that I am in NO WAY blaming that on our loss.....just that it would have put the guys off in the first place.....

As for Wiki.....he knew better....no sympathy......

The disgrace in all this is the lame excuse and blame game by the Roosters and Smith, who gives a shit, you still played footy for 80 mins, waiting an extra 3 shouldnt matter.

Wiki got off very lightly. The NRL should have hammered him for putting his hands on BJ like that.

Smith never blamed that for the loss, he called it "Bizzare" that there was a wait.

Making an opposition team wait out on the field is known to be used as a tactic by teams in the past, 3 minutes, after you have been given instructions and been hyped up, is a long time.

                      3 minutes or 80 minutes.......EVERY MINUTE MATTERS !
