    We didn't leak it.

And he told Uncle Nick that he was still coming after it had come out.

    And he was.

Until your boy Lachlan paid him a visit.

What bullshit, do you just make shit up when you have no idea? Bennett was even quoted as saying "Tell the boss (referring to Politis) that I'm still coming" even after it was leaked he was coming to us. He then got a lot of heat from Lachlan Murdoch (who hates Politis) about coming to us and in the end the Broncs made changes including the promise to get rid of Cullen to keep Bennett happy for a couple more years.

The whole leaking thing was a furffy as Bennett was coming anyway. That was before Murdoch offered enough to make Wayne go back on his word which is another reason I hate the two faced hypocrite.

            Chook.

              from Phil Gould

"Left hand on the Bible, right hand raised. Here's the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Wayne Bennett sat down with chairman Nick Politis about six weeks ago and agreed to coach the Sydney Roosters.

Everything was fine until Thursday evening, when Bennett informed the club he was no longer coming. His explanation for this change of heart appears inadequate given the enthusiasm he'd shown for our club and the degree of work already undertaken to prepare for his arrival.

To say this has been a massive disappointment is an understatement.

Only a few people were privy to this information but the level of excitement among all of us, that we had secured the services of this great coach, was enormous. We all looked forward to the future with great anticipation.

At Bennett's request, this had been kept a secret for all that time, but as is always the case in rugby league, secrets inexplicably find their way into the public arena."

Funny how you stopped quoting just short of this bit in that column:

"In the end, though, it was only speculation and no real justification for the whole deal to go up in smoke."

As a non-Rooster supporter you would see that as being the fault of the club, as a Rooster supporter I see that as Bennett farking us over.

                Chook.

Philly's quote may have been a little premature at the time.

Three weeks before it was made public Geyer was the first to leak it out on Talkin' Sport. After it all went pair shaped because of the leak I called him and put it to him who told him about it. I asked whether it was Fittler or Gould and after his usual spluttering he said that it was neither but of course he couldn't disclose who it was. Not sure who else from the Roosters Geyer has close contacts with but funny how Freddy got the job after that.

You want more proof it was Bennett.

"There were times, Gould feared, that Politis no longer wanted to be part of it. Like the time he sacked Ricky Stuart as coach, believing Wayne Bennett was on his way.

''I wouldn't have sacked Ricky if I didn't think Bennett was coming," Politis said. ''Then Bennett changed his mind … We went through a pretty tough period.''

                      Chook.

And what about how he told Uncle Nick he was still coming after it became public knowledge?

Even though we can agree to disagree about who was the leak, the statement he was still coming overrides it.

he changed his mind because the Roosters blabbed

it was the Roosters who caused the deal to fall over, because they blabbed

Sure Politis was disappointed, who wouldn't be, but he should have told his spiv mates to shut the fark up
