Geez, Carney isn't that bad after all, now I think of it.

    Exactly!

    Yes, what I've been saying:

. "a little mistake"[Gallop], charged with 'drink driving' the next day...from the night before.

. Was home alone, changed mind about going to Goulburn, then texted repeatedly by Watts, finally gave in, drank some shandies, then vodkas and soda...not drunk, no anti-social behaviour at all.

And look at all the Roosters-'haters' in the media spewing forth outrage and disdain at Carney and the Roosters.

Test forward Paul Gallen fined for urinating in public

CRONULLA has fined Test lock Paul Gallen $10,000, half of which is suspended, after he was issued with an infringement notice for public urination over the weekend.

Gallen was seen urinating in public and near someone's head in the early hours of last Saturday and issued with an infringement notice by police.

The club has investigated the incident and decided to hand the former captain a heavy fine, $5000 of which will remain suspended on good behaviour for the remainder of his contract.

Racial slur puts $10,000 hole in Paul Gallen's pocket

THE fate of Paul Gallen was being determined at a Cronulla board meeting last night, with the Sharks forward under pressure to retain the club captaincy after being fined $10,000 by the NRL for racial vilification.

Gallen came under scrutiny for calling St George Illawarra forward Micky Paea a "black c..." during the Sharks' 26-4 loss to the Dragons at Toyota Park last Saturday night.

Paea reacted angrily to the slur but decided against pursuing the matter under the game's racial vilification policy while Gallen later apologised.

Although what Gallen said was not picked up by the onfield audio, the NRL believed there was enough evidence to suggest a racial slur had been made and fined the Sharks lock $10,000 for breaching its players' code of conduct.

            The Widders incident

In 2005, South Sydney Rabbitohs player Bryan Fletcher was stripped of the captaincy, suspended, fined $10,000 and ordered by his club to help Dean Widders work with Aboriginal children following racist comments he directed at Widders during an NRL game.
Fletcher was contrite and apologised unreservedly to his former team-mate after the incident.

Sad thing is the Warriors have given this guy a second chance by signing him up for this season. I can't see why people aren't willing to forgive a player with an alcohol problem who doesn't physically harm anyone, yet they will most likely go along and happily cheer for these sorts of lowlifes.

Seems to be "Win at all costs" in many sports.

                      Also...there is one line of thought;

"He's served time in prison and paid his debt to society".

What he did was horrendous...he was sent to prison...an horrendous place to be.
Then after being locked up in the cell...one day he's let out of the prison gate, his belongings in a bag.

                      What then?
Does no one ever employ him again, anywhere?
I'm not sure of the answers.

Can't have players with alcohol problems just doing whatever comes into their heads though.
Drink-driving is a crime...Todd's was a 'little mistake' [Gallop], but still a crime as far as the law and courts are concerned.
Club has a player contract, issued by the NRL...with rules for players in it...which the players sign, in return for their often large salaries.
$400,000 pa...takes some workers/fans 10 years to earn that much.

                      . Drugs/drug tests
                      . Anti-social behaviour
. 'Bringing the game into disrepute'
                      etc.

Breach the code of conduct/employer's/society's rules, there are penalties/consequences...even more these days than in earlier times.

When you look at the rap sheet of the various players this crime stands out to me as the most heinous. What a disgusting, sick act. This guy should have been given 10 years in the big house. It is unthinkable to me that such a man should be given a second chance.
