Crackdown: NRL set to ban exotic bet options
THE NRL will move to ban some exotic betting options in the wake of the suspicious plunge on last year's Canterbury-Cowboys game.
The Sun-Herald understands at least two novelty options - including last-try scorer and some field-goal markets - will be scrapped in response to the spot-fixing scandal at the centre of a police investigation. The NRL is putting the finishing touches on its report, which is likely to be handed down this week and which will have immediate ramifications for bookmakers.

Wise decision.
Betting was how cricket got itself into trouble with match-fixing etc.
Betting that say the third ball of the 27th over will be a no-ball.
"Hooray, the bowler put his foot over the line, no-ball"!
