  • Why Gallop should have been replaced years ago, RUGBY LEAGUE corruption

Disgruntled NRL club chairmen have been assured they haven't been asked to sign up for competitions in future years, before the independent commission to manage rugby league is up and running.

Spokesmen for the chairmen David Trodden had questioned why the NRL had circulated new license agreements when the structure of the game was about to be overhauled.

NRL boss David Gallop told club chief executives on Thursday that clubs had not been asked to sign the agreements.

"The NRL has circulated the existing agreements (which remain in force) so that clubs can put forward their views on future templates, but we have not sought to have any agreements signed as has been reported," Gallop said.

Chairmen again recently voiced their anger over delays to the arrival of the commission, saying important issues like a new broadcast deal were suffering.

Reports suggest the delay in the commission has partly been caused by negotiations with half-owner of the league, News Limited, over a guarantee the media company will not start a rival competition like Super League.

Agreement on the eight commissioners is also making slow progress.

The independent commission was discussed at Thursday's CEOs meeting, with the NRL saying the focus was on "the importance of clubs being able to fully understand the legal framework of the new body".

Meanwhile, the promotion of exotic betting options was also discussed in the wake of charges from the investigation into a plunge on the first scoring play in a North Queensland-Canterbury match last year.

"There is still consultation needed with betting operators, but this remains an area that we are looking at very closely," Gallop said.

And clubs backed the continuation of Monday night games, suggesting they should be considered for free-to-air programming in future years.

Crowd averages have grown from 13,500 in 2010 to 18,900 so far in 2011, with a 47 per cent rise in television audiences.

"Monday night has this year provided three of the top 10 rating subscription television programs of all time," a NRL statement said.

    Acountability.
The vultures in the media are bleating that its all Gallop's fault, deflecting the true problems with the game.
The real problem is accountability in all facets, but primarily the media.

The empty headed lotto winners (face it spending all day reporting on RL, making crap up, its as good as winning lotto) bleat on selectively about disgraceful player behaviour while ignoring their own disgraceful trangressions, and slinking around dribbling for the crumbs of "newsworthy" titbits, fact and fiction.
They mumble on about saving the game and the changes needed. Get rid of the corner post, pay the players a billion dollars, don't let them leave the game, its being raped and pillaged !!!
What the eff, do these media cretins have secret knowledge about the secret money trees hidden from the everyday person.

Life below the snakes belt buckle is good, drink what you want, drive what you want, sleep with who you want and pick and chose your own scape goats. Live life to the fullest while you can, because the only hope this game of rugby league has of not developing into a farcical game of touch football with out a true footballer in sight is for someone to come along and give a good ass kicking to the gibbering brainles fools in the TV and print media.

Gallop won't do that, but will anyone, I think not. Who ever leads the pack at the NRL will sell their soul for the $.
On the off chance that someone good comes along and challenges these morons they will still cop a hiding from at least 50% of suporters who will whinge their team is being victimised. Not to mention Manly who still can't get over the fact they don't run RL anymore.

A truly independent commission will be great but Gallop will still be there and News will still have first and last rights to the tv so we will all still get screwed

I was wrong about David Gallop...and Trewhella was right. For years I argued with Trew about Gallop, defending him and his decisions, but I have finally seen this prick reveal his true colours and he is nothing but a two-faced, corrupt news limited piece of shit.

        Apologies Trew.

I now believe he is using his position to purposely delay the IC for his news limited masters so they can get another stab at undervaluing our game for the new TV rights deal. I just hope if the chairmen can't get rid of this grub that they limit his power within the new IC.

        Chook.

I don't believe he is delaying the IC deliberately but whilever he is there the game is at best going sideways and probably down in terms of professionalism of administration and that is bad for the Code

Either way he needs to have no part of the IC or have his influence severely restricted.

            Chook.

How can News pretend they are giving the Game back when they are leaving their man at the wheel?

Chook, you must have been seriously deluded.

And Billy, I am sure the News Media is not blaming Gallop.

probably not, but its fun to have a go at them, even though they are easy targets.

How much will we have to cut out of League to get rid of the cancer that is News Limited?

It's a business decision boys and girls,

As aluded to, it's all about the dollars that news will save by having their man there pretending to sell league to an open market.
I hope channel ten or seven make their offer public.

                              Lets define INDEPENDENT:

                              - Free from the influence, guidance, or control of another or others;

                              - Not determined or influenced by someone or something else;

                              - Not dependent on or affiliated with a larger or controlling entity

Can anyone tell me how News Ltd/Fox/Nrl/Gallop is not a conflict of interest alround?

And with Gallop self appointing himself to head the Commission ( if it ever gets off the ground )?

                              Gallop is just a disgrace.

no wonder gayFL has it all over the incompetent Nrl when it comes to controling and running their game. Gallop is not even good enough to tie up Dimitriou's shoe laces lol.
