Pearce has more Origin caps, Carney has a Dally M, and selection for Australia. Soward has a premiership. Depends which way you look at it. Just judging on this statement alone, only enforces my point that you needed to go to bed when I said. Now piss off back to the wall.

Yeah we could have soggy sAAAAAwood instead of Pearce and Carney.
If we kept him he would be playing for the Jets IMO. He wouldn't have the bulk of the Kangaroos forwards protecting him, Wayne coaching, Boyd/Morris/Gasnier picking up the scraps + turning them into gold. He'd be battling with the Jets and the Roosters would be struggling even harder having released Pearce and failed to secure Carney.

Soward (who I kid you not is so-ard... sAAAAwood's just a boganization that $hits me to tears) is alright at drop goals and doing long kicks without cocking his leg, but he lacks control and accuracy. I laugh every time he misses a penalty/conversion because they are ALWAYS from right in front and straight. Was I the only guy who saw him miss the penalty just before half time this week? Piggy could have nailed that one I swear!!

Soward also lacks range in his kicks... dunno if anybody noticed? He gets good range off quick kicks, but when really going for distance he struggles. He's not the kind who is good at kicking 40/20's or getting the team out of trouble when it's being dominated (e.g. City vs Country.)

Okay so we're not winning and his team is. Not saying he's a rubbish player, but I think out recruitment/retention guys are happy we have Carney and Pearce rather than Soward, who again... I reckon would be playing for the Jets with Smith as coach. Wayne and the depth of the Dragons squad have been largely behind his success... we can't offer either. I see the Dragons as an investment team - they all took pay cuts in order to win a premiership and boost their market value as individuals. We're not an investment club and we're currently trying our hardest not to be a transit lounge...

I consequently see this as a deeper issue of training/investing. We're not a club where young sparks go to offer their cut price services in exchange for quality incubation that will turn them into 500k+ players for the rest of their career. Unfortunately this means we pay BIG money for guys like JWH/Mataka/Tasi/Carney, leaving big gaps in our depth. The Dragons don't cheat, they are just good at bargaining! Gasnier back in 55k just for a premiership was a farce, but it was always legal coz he knew he was likely to get himself a premiership.
