The "tries" that Beau Ryan and Brett Stewart "scored" should have never been allowed. This BS rule about so called downward pressure with it's thousand times a second replays rulings is a joke. The rule should specify that a player should have control of the ball. It might cost some team a premiership.

IF you are talking about the Beau Ryan try at the end of todays game, your kidding yourself.
I actually thought he bounched it but the slow motion showed it was easily a fair try, hand never left the ball and he put the ball down fair and square.
The Stewart one is a bit more negotiatable, not really convinced he had controlThe Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

I agree at full speed Ryan looked like he bounched the ball, but he def grounded it fair and square
Was his nervousness regarding that or the fact you never know what the Video ref is going to doThe Internet is a place for posting silly things

I dont know about that Ryan try - looked good to me.
However that is part of our game that frustrates me the most. Over the last few years there have been some shockers. It got to a point where you see coaches and players having a laugh at the expense of officials.
Now every player celebrates a try, knowing that it's always a chance with the VR.

I agree on the Ryan try. Rules that used to apply to scoring off a kick now apply to running tries. We continually see what would be a knock on anywhere else on the field called "control" just because it is in-goal.
This started when the league decided to establish clear "KPIs" for video refs created the black and white ruling of "separation" rather than "control" which requires some interpretation. The culture of fear in refereeing since Harrigan retired that has seen the worst refereeing across the board in the history of the game.
