    melbourne are on top now... so what happens to the early payout by TABsports bet for st george to win the minor premiership?

    We were speaking about that yesterday....

    Was it just some bookie who payed out or a sportbetting company, cause they arent going to get their money back thats for sure....

      Was a publicity exercise by Sportsbet in Darwin only, not the TAB

        smart move, paid them out and that money was more than likely re-invested on other markets, any person who had that bet and did not collect are fools

                just on your point PWN, if people had of taken the payout, they could have put the money on the Sea Eagles and possibly made a motza at the end of the season ! (unless they closed their market for minor premiership.)

                  Exactly right, at the time the Dragons odds were so short, the market had died in the arse for that bet type, it was dead money for the bookies and the punters, so they freed up the money they "would have lost" hoping people would either look for value elsewhere ro waste it on other bet types, if people looked for manly or melb at decent odds they could win a fortune.

                  Just another way a bookie can double dip

                    If you backed Manly for example to win the minor premiership, and the bookies decide to payout on St George halfway through the season, if Manly end up winning the minor premiership they have to pay everyone who backed Manly
