  • Tinkler, charlatan?

Not that I'm in any way informed about this, but I reckon the Knights will go bust within 5 seasons with Tinkler running the show.

To me he seems like the classic debt-fuelled confidence trickster.

I mean, the whole stolen $500,000 Ferrari torched in a park screams insurance job.

I'm amazed a blue-collar union town like Newcastle could have unanimously sold out to a young multi-millionaire bully. That's aspirational Australia for you.

Anyone else get that vibe about the Tink?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if they had to renege on their deal with Bennett due to lack of funds.

And regarding the ferrari, I agree. For that amount, I bet the insurance company will say they are not paying up, Tinkler can take them to court if he wants.

I dunno Pipe, it's not hard to succeed in mining these days, all you need is a big hole in the ground. I remember when he first rode in as the "Knight in Shining Blubber" he was worth 600mill I think? Now, 6 months later he's a billionaire.

          Chook.

Got more chance of Bill Gates gettin caught shoplifting a Mars Bar.....

Really, a bloke worth in excess of $600 mill torching a car worth 500k????? If you think very carefully about this....By the time he goes to the servo to buy a petrol tin and matches, comes home, drives the car 20kms from home and torches it, gets a lift home and then reports it stolen....He could have bought another one brand new from the interest earnt on his 600 million.

              Not exactly rocket science....

I'm with the Pipe. The whole Tinkler experience will end in tears.

I know nothing about the science of rockets, but I don't think he has $600 million just sitting in the bank earning interest.

As I said, I could be wrong. I don't know though. Dude has the whiff of disgraced tycoon about him.

                      Alan Bond.

                      Nah,

                      Bond beg, borrowed and stole.
This guy already has the cash.

I cant see him going bust in 5 years.
The mining boom will still be going.

Not that it is a massive concern for us, but i have been iffy on the tinkler deal since the start, especially since there was argument over the original deal that was put forward to the one they put forward before he first withdrew the bid (10 mill per year changed to the balance to 10 mill).

There is something fishy, even if it isn't with the knights themselves, he may want to wield his "power" on the rugby league world.

The bloke looks like Mr Creosote from Monty Python. His company might not go bust, but his bloated gut might.

The knights are in a pretty poor financial state as of now. Tinkler coming in can only be good for them, surely. I've heard he simply has trouble paying on time. Has a large amount of assets, but poor in liquidity/cash

I work closely with one of his businesses.

He isn't going to go broke any time soon.

Brian Smith will win a premiership before he runs out of cash.
