Yes Spirit, hilarious isn't it, that the exact same organization (News) has run our game all this time, it is common knowledge Murdoch Junior and Gallop are no friends of Politis; News of The World (Australian edition - Telegraph) has attacked Easts non-stop for 5 years; and our club has been butt-reamed for years by the refereeing officials employed by Rupert. But to suggest these things are related would be a fantasy/conspiracy theory of laughable proportions!

Was saying Channel 9 - the linked article talks about them changing the rules around restarts etc and extending the duration of halftime to run more ads

the game has to consider increasing revenue. After News' grubby hands conflicts of interests, the game has suffered financially for years. Its time it recoups its true value, even if it means allowing another ad or 2

Ever see News promote league in Melbourne like it does in Sydney. Hardly see the telegraph plastering every indescrition of other codes stars on its front page. The telegraph love giving league a black eye

Ch9 are equally as bad and both could really promote the game better

The fact is league has been dudded its true value in each broadcast right. News' conflict has ensured it does not receive its fair share from Fox. Yet league top its ratings and no doubt subcriptions

I don't agree with 9 dictating terms. However, the reality is that if we want our $1bn broadcast deal, whoever wins the rights, will dictate terms. I'd love to see the whole draw announced before round 1 much like the AFL. At what costs though?
