Wayne Bennett knows what he is doing, unfortunatley.

    Bennett must go OK.

The Steelers won a comp with arguably the worst halves pairing in living memory. I seriously can't think of a worst pair of halves to lift the trophy.

The answer to that lies in the remainder of the backline including the Clive Churchill medalist who joined the Saints with Bennett.

That surely must come down to coaching.

We've painfully seen our backs perform well below par when our halves have gone missing this year.

Yes, Bennett is a good coach and 2010 had a lot to do with his coaching style. I just don't believe he is the genius people make him out to be. IMO Hasler and Bellamy have both out-coached Bennett the last few years except for last year where Bellamy didn't get the chance, and Hasler ran out of troops.

The Dragons team was no better or worse than the 2010 outfit. It just wasn't their turn in 2011.

I think the fact missed by the thread originator and many here is that whilst Wayne is no doubt a fantastic coach, he also only cares about himself. Bennett was on the nose at the Dragons and lost the dressing room.. The fact he drove up mid week last week to spend a day with the Knights to discuss strategies for next year showed where his head was at... He gave up on the Dragons and the players knew it.

There game had not developed since 2010. every other team took bits from there game and used it against them.

No way, they were much worse this year. No Jeremy Smith and Neville Costigan meant they lost the hard edge from their pack and I dopn't think they really overcame that when the games went up in intensity.

Ask tobin if you want verification but I backed Brisbane.

The purpose of the thread was not to underestimate them come semis.

Wouldn't doubt it for a moment but they were gone a long time out.. Lightening wasn't going to strike twice. They did against the Tigers what they did for the entire second half of the season, collapsed in the second half.. They lifted for sure against the Bronco's but they choked in sudden death, kicking on the 4th was a brain explosion and gave the Bronco's the field position to kick that winning goal. I loved it.. the night would have been sweeter if Creagh had the balls to land one on fat Hodgo's chin and broken it.

Too right. Hodges deserved a broken jaw for that act of heroism. Pathetic in the extreme that none of the steelers players belted him. Luke Ricketson would not have copped that to one of his team mates.

And how pissweak the match review committee could find nothing wrong with what he did?

Bennetts mind was like that of his men, off the game. He went there to do a job, got them a sus GF win so job done, move on.

Next stop Newcastle, even mid week mind you. Sure his heart & mind was still focused on the Merge.

I like Hodges, he's a tough old nut. He would've fitted right in in 1936.
