BTW are the guys on 55k required to turn up to both Roosters and Jets training sessions? Could be decent if they get that to play/train with the Jets then have a "real" job on top earning 65k+.

Also are things like education packaged in for these guys? I remember at uni there were a few guys who played NYC and the odd NRL game - one got a hat trick in his only NRL appearance (randomly) which was kinda cool.

I am no business expert. But hasn't part of the problem been that Rupert's News Ltd owned NRL has been selling TV rights to Rupert's News Ltd owned Foxtel for way, way below market value? The ridiculously low salary cap for clubs, so that Rupert can skim hundreds of millions of dollars from the people who pay a fortune to view the NRL on Foxtel (which now additionally makes even huger profits from the insane amount of ads that were not present when it started), means the game's very best players make 500K per year. Major League Baseball players make 20 million plus per year, without being subjected to crippling injuries for life. Then there's the soccer players, tennis players, golfers, etc.

Mate, all the players I listed are on easts official (website) top 25 list!
Being on the easts list means they are on the easts payroll, but not too sure how/if the jets contribute moneywise.
        Newtown is our 'reserve grade'.

Thats where the second tier cap comes in.We can play $300k worth of salaried players from u/20s where there is no minimum wage. These 8 extras are U/20`S players whom we have had to use this year.We also were granted special permission to go over our second tier cap this year by playing 2 more U/20`s in first grade due to injuries.

Any player listed in a clubs top 25 have to be NRL registered and at least be contracted for $55k minimum wage.
Any other player with Newtown is not an NRL or Rooster registered player and cannot play first grade until they are registered, which had to be done by June 30th and would then come under this years salary cap.
