Oh get a life people. Players from every team in every game milk the ref for all their worth for any incident they can in order to con a penalty, it's part of rugby league.

If anyone in this thread says they would not do exactly the same thing if they were a player, with their season on the line, then they have their hand on it.

Souths have won 4 in a row because they completely deserved to, end of story.

I would not do it, I coach players not to do it and would put a blast up one that did.
Win or lose but do it with honour is what I believe in.

It was one point in a game that either team could have won without it.

BUT it was a dog low act, I just watched it for the first time and it was not even a penalty and was up there with some of the worst soccer dives. Quite a shame really as he is one of the very few $ouff$ players I respected. No more.

wt* are you talking about? He played the rules as stated by PIM. The shot was high but the fact he catted the way he did is just dirty.

The dive Townsend just took was worse than Luke's.

No from the footage I saw on facebook, it was not close to a penalty and was the worst dive I have ever seen in RL.

As far as jumping up and down clapping if the penatly went to the Roosters, well you take the penalty because you can't change it but I would be quiet embarrassed. But after this year whats so unusual about that.

The referees/video ref/s looked at it...and awarded Luke a penalty.

              Wanna blame someone, blame them.

What does the rule say, "not allowed to make contact with the head"?

Forumites here suggested that the refereeing was biased in Souths favour on the night? ["Get Souths into the finals"?]

The rule also says the video referee cannot intervene unless it is a reportable offence, which it wasn't.

Hitting a player in the head is not a reportable offence?

Video ref should be able to help rule on any and every part of play if requested to, and if not requested to.

Players in grand finals with their feet half a metre over the sideline and it let go by the ref and linesman for example.

Anyone else think the last pass from Taylor for the last Souffs try was almost a metre forward? The way his hands were positioned it could only go forward.

That tackle was not a reportable offence. There is exactly zero likelihood that a player could be charged for that tackle.

In relation to your second comment, my post related to the rules as they stand - not an opinion on how they should stand. Video refs do not have th general jurisdiction you describe under todays rules.

Because the game hasn't slowed down enough for you? Yes, I'm dirty about the foot on the sideline but it gets a bit tedious going to the video ref time and time again.

There shouldn't be different sets of rules for different parts of the game.

What is a penalty on any Friday game needs to be a penalty in golden point, a semi or a preliminary final.
100% agree with this comment!! It was by no means the worst high tackle you will see but slow mo clearly showed that he copped a fair whack around the mouth... Luke admitted that he would not usually have stayed down but I'm pretty sure that 99% of people would do the same thing in that situation

Does anyone else see the irony here? A team that contains JWH calling another player a cat? LOL
