  • harrigan proposes 20/40 rule for next season

    what are your thoughts?

My thoughts are that Harrogant should concentrate on teaching his refs how to detect a forward pass, amongst other things.

No love for a 10/50 or 30/30 rule?

FFS how about a uniform 10m, reduce the wrestlemania at the ruck and, as said above, get onto forward passes before we go any further with "exciting" rule changes.
It's scientifically impossible for Easts to be in Souths' shadow when there's daylight between them and us.
      Easts to win

looking at the past 2-3 yrs of refereeing, forward passes will become flavour of the month and then will be forgotten like walking off the Mark, offside at kickoffs and dropouts from infront of the goal line.

Exactly, all the bloody refs and touches are calling the blatent forward passes as good and calling the fair passes as forward.

I mean how far forward was that one for the Drag Queens on Friday night.

And how many forward passes did Cronulla throw on Sat night and never got pulled up for 1!

Before Hollywood considers bringing in new rules he must ensure that the referees understand the ones that already exist, which they obviously don't. The new one would be just another one they could stuff up.

Well seeing as nobody actually answere there thoughts on the 20/40 rule. I like it
im shocked it hasnt happened yet
It could be a game changer, teams having a bad set until a massive swing of momentum or tempts them to kick on the 3rd and go for the "20/40"

Does anyone else think that this is mimicking the union rule of kicking from bend your own 22 mtr line?????

I think it is mimicing the Union way in creating too many rules that aren't really neccessary. You want to keep the game as simple as possible to encourage more people to attend and watch games. My wife and kids don't like watching union because of the complexity of the rules.

I think the balance between attack and defence is pretty good at the moment. All we need is more consistency.

                    20/40 rule?

Yes please, the footy is boring in many games.

A team getting dominated for 5 tackles and still being stuck inside their own 20m line doesn't deserve the opportunity at such a game changing play.

Excellent point, hadn't thought of it like that, bloody NRL always wants to even up this comp, what's wrong with a better side being able to keep the pressure on, it should be more of a game of attrition.

I would like to see the sin bin rule either reduced to 5 minutes, or alternatively, once the opposition team scores a try, the player is allowed to return to the field. 10 minutes is just too long in the modern game and sometimes the penalty is just far too harsh.
