  • The Commission Starts November 1

Well they have FINALLY decided on a date, the independant commission will commence on November 1 and Gallop predicts the effect will be felt immediatly

    http://www.foxsports.com.au/league/n...-1226120744931

Will the commission be the saviour of the NRL, even with Gallop in such a position????

on a basic level, the NSWRL (lincluding the CRL), the QRL and The NRL Boards will now cease to exist with all being administered by the independant commission.

The ownership of the game, which was previously split between the ARL and News limited will now come under the 16 NRL clubs with the Commission making the desicions.

From what i understand so far.

As long as the News Ltd ex super league lawyer David Gallop is CEO of the Nrl, the outcomes of the independent commission will never be truely independent! Gallop could override any decisions made. Once Gallop disappears, the Nrl will go ahead in leaps and bounds. He is a cancer, and a reminder of the upheaval in the mid 90's. Dimitriou makes Gallop look like its men against boys. The quicker Gallop is farked off, the better the game of rugby league will be!

I invoke the "Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who" rule I just created.

"Meet the boss, same as the old boss"

Does anyone think that Harto and friends would let anything happen without it being rigged in the NRL's favor?

            Not really.

If Gallop's the 'new' CEO it'll be business as usual.

So it's still called the NRL I guess.

O oh, here we go again.

                Superleague war MK2.
...and we're down the bottom of the ladder, so we could be one of the first to get the chop.

                They want their:

                Brisbane
                Melbourne
                Adelaide
                Darwin
                PNG or Newcastle.
                NZ
                Sydney, but not us....or 'Parramatta'
                Canberra
                Penrith
                Cronulla
                FNQ
                SW Sydney Dogs

comp, the same as they did before.

Cash-strapped clubs could of course take all the money on offer and sell them their clubs.

I think some people underestimate the job that Gallop has done.
Sure he hasn't been perfect, but think about this, he essentially has 16 groups for a client base and a lot of the time the things these groups as individuals want does not suit the other 15.
He understands the knee jerk reactions that many call for are just not practical.
Just because he doesn't ban someone we hate or protect our favourate player doesn't mean he is a puppet for NEWS.

I see him more as a man whose hands are tied by NEWS rather than a puppet of NEWS, maybe a subtle difference but different none the less. I think he would do a good job without NEWS restricted him.

While I could not call him my best mate, I do know him and he loves the game. His interests are seeing the game prosper and do well.
He doesn't hide behind anyone and fronts up when required to answer the hard questions.

If the commission acheives what I think is its primary goal, giving each club an equal voice, it will be a good thing and David Gallop will do a good job.

The problems in our game lie primarily with 3 parties - some of the NEWS aligned clubs have more power, the medias selective and inaccurate reporting and Ch9s commentary of the games.

I was with him until he and that other guy 'double-crossed' TC having previously stated that the NRL had no interest in the latest drama as there'd been no anti-social behaviour and no breaching of NRL code of conduct rules.

                      Well put.
Gallop has the best interest of the game at heart, you can see that when he talks about the game.
He will not have the final say on matters that are of utmost importance, those issues will be refered to the board.
He is there to manage the day to day running of the administration of the game, a job he does now with great skill.

I'll believe it when I see it.

As I recall the exact same articles were out this time last year, claiming the IC would be taking over on November 1st 2010

Well i am glad to hear from you in the know that David Gallop is a nice fellow after all.

However, disturbingly for Easts fans, here are 2 facts:

David Gallop effing hates Nick Politis' guts.

                          Nick hates Gallop's guts.

Take it from there. I would think it in our interests for Giddyup to fall off the face of the earth. Sounds like he is sticking around. Oh dear.

I reckon David Gallop has done a really good job under the circumstances, most of which are not his making.

He will not make the ultimate decision maker, the members of the independent commission will be. Gallop will be doing the day to day running of the comp.

As far as I'm concerned Gallop has been more than fair to the Roosters over the past few years, espec when it comes to player behaviour, where we haven't exactly made his job easy with having the likes of Mason, Friend, Myles and Carney on our books. Any punishments handed down by the NRL have been made after consultation with the Roosters and that's all the Club can ask for.

I don't give a rats whether he and Politis get on or not. Gallop's job is to do what's best for the game as a competition.

Meanwhile Politis should be concentrating on the Roosters alone and not trying to extend his power and kingdom beyond the RW&B. God knows he's made enough dubious decisions over the past few years for the Roosters. We don't want them repeated where the NRL is concerned.

I know Politis' heart is in the right place, but I sometimes wonder about his mind.

                            NC
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Gallop-NRL turned on Carney, so I don't think much of him/them anymore.

I too will believe the New Commission when I see it actually happen.

No way would I be signing the clubs over to it without News Ltd signing the "we promise to never start another competition in opposition" clause.

                              http://www.nrl.com/foxtel-could-miss...6/default.aspx

Foxtel could miss out on NRL: Gallop

NRL boss David Gallop says Foxtel risks being frozen out of rugby league's next broadcast deal if it isn't prepared to pay full value for the rights to the competition.

Responding to a pay TV executive's comments that talk of a $1 billion-plus deal was "confusing", Gallop said every NRL game could end up on free-to-air television.

                              >>>>> >>>>> >>>>>

Hope so, that would save me some money.

News Ltd wants to own and run everything...it must be stopped.
