  • Peter Peters 'sacked' - told female reporter she was "a good sort".

Manly official Peter Peters stood down after 'good sort' gaffe involving Sky News reporter Megan Barnard

VETERAN official Peter "Zorba" Peters has been stood down by the Sea Eagles for telling a female Sky News journalist she was "a good sort" outside the NRL judiciary.

    Of course.

Men should've learnt by now how to protect themselves from this sort of thing.

. Say nothing to women that they don't have to about the work subject in the course of their employment...not one word.
. Say nothing in public to women...nothing, no compliments, no criticism, no anything...this can be the result.
    . Keep mouth shut.
. See women as brick walls and lamp posts and as such ignore them.
. Don't offer them a seat on public transport...my mate did that and was growled at by the woman: "What do you want"?
. Open a door for most young women these days and they waltz thru like exalted goddesses, don't say thank you, and treat a man like he's after them.
. Don't have women doing yoga exercises or any other exercises at footy training sessions.

Roosters officials and players should take note.

No, you should take note. Fair dinkum the poor girl is trying to do her job and she gets an idiot like Peters treating her like she should be in the kitchen cooking him his 25th meat pie for the day. Poor form from Peters, but the guy is a knob jockey of the highest order.

Sky News chief executive Angelo Frangopoulos told The Daily Telegraph the comments "were inappropriate and unacceptable". He added that Peters had apologised and the reporter was now on scheduled holidays on the Gold Coast.

I took note a long time ago, they won't get me.
I can't get caught, because I keep my mouth firmly shut and treat them like brick walls and lamp posts.
They can't take offence at anything I say because I say nothing.

"You're a good sort"...sounds like something a forward from the 'olden days' would say if he and a woman were standing together 'alone' and he thought he should make conversation.

I'm no fan of Manly or Peters.

It's been my experience that to young women/women it all depends on who's saying it, the possible compliment and beauty admiration.
Brad Pitt, they go weak at the knees and in their minds, and swoon.

Old forwards with no special handsome traits, they are repulsed.

The club's female supporter group, The Eagles Angels, yesterday rallied behind the former grand final forward with spokeswoman Wendy Harmer saying she had heard a lot worse said about women in rugby league circles.

"Zorba is a very nice man and he says lots of complimentary things to women," she said.

"He also notices if you have had your hair done or if you have a nice outfit. Anyone who's offended by that is really out of touch."

Earlier yesterday, Peters spoke of his regret about the incident.

"It was at the end of a heavy day with all the legal drama and it was a stupid thing to say," he said.

"She was following us but our guys weren't allowed to comment so I've said something silly that I now regret.

              But you can't say it.
It's "inappropriate and unacceptable"...and you'll likely be sacked from your job.

              Risky idea these days.

"That is a nice dress you're wearing, Susie".

"You're sleazy, you were leering at me in my new tight dress".

He probably should not have said it and I am not sure of the context.

But bloody hell, can't people just stop being soft.
Next she will be suing him, what a bloody joke.

the next time what will it be, someone sacked for saying "next question from the blonde over there"

I thought she would take it as a compliment. If someone told me I was a good sort, I certainly wouldn't be unhappy about it lol

You would just give their guide dog a biscuit and a pat on the head and move on!

We live in a boring world.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Maybe she chuckled at the old bloke's remark, maybe not.

Maybe "Sky News chief executive Angelo Frangopoulos" took offence, maybe not.

Peters made his comments as Barnard and her camera crew followed Stewart, coach Des Hasler and Penn to the carpark at Fox Studios.

The comments were broadcast on Sky News on Wednesday night and on bulletins yesterday.

Sky News chief executive Angelo Frangopoulos told The Daily Telegraph the comments "were inappropriate and unacceptable". He added that Peters had apologised and the reporter was now on scheduled holidays on the Gold Coast.

"What happens in the carpark when reporters and news crews are following players and officials, stays in the carpark" ... not anymore.

Now grandad could lose his job, who would give him another? which Sky News would've known.

So I'll be boycotting Sky News.

Hey, he and Carney could be going before their respective boards for punishment on the same day.
