Now Hadley just took a swipe at Carney "and he's still drinking they tell me" [and the Sharks for possibly signing him].
Hellooo!...drinking alcohol is legal!
...and legal in the NRL ...players just can't be involved in anti-social behaviour.

He sought treatment, AA and the Salvation Army reportedly.
With many/'most' people, resolutions only last a few weeks/maybe a few months, as it's all too hard.
Some improve a bit, he didn't break any more laws.

***
He on the radio admitted to being a drink driver himself when younger.
Highly illegal, could've killed or maimed someone.
I don't make promises.
Then I can't break them. :-)
If I promised you on your death bed something, then I would do it. .....take it to the bank.
If I couldn't do what you wanted me to promise, then I wouldn't promise it. [but I might have when I was Carney's age, with all good intentions]Last edited by bondi-boy; 09-13-2011, 11:24 AM.

If Todd had been to AA he would know this prayer.
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."
He didn't know the difference. Nor did he have the courage to change, unfortunately

He did change a bit, didn't break any more laws...and no anti-social behaviour.
Maybe he said the prayer and the the courage wasn't granted him.
'Courage' is not quite the right word though.
Maybe he tried it all and just couldn't do it...no shame in that, you just have to accept whatever punishments come your way then.

Courage is what it takes to beat an addiction.
Todd told us, he had an addiction to alcohol.
To abstain from the drink, he needed to show some courage to overcome the pangs of addiction.
What you are saying does not make much sense.
You need to get over your man love for the bloke.
