  • For Bondi-Boy - Alan Jones on Carney

Just thought Bondi-Boy might like to know that one of his heros Alan Jones was on the Game Plan last night on One HD. When asked about the Carney situation Jones suggested that while it's important to look after players who have social issues and keep them employed in the game, that once they have been requested to adhere to a certain standard AND THEY AGREE TO THAT AND MAKE PROMISES TO THAT EFFECT, but then continually fall back on their word and fail to meet that standard, then their contract needs to be torn up. And to demonstrate that he tore up a piece of paper to camera.

Please list Jones' successes in the NRL. Hasler is the opposite in supporting his players no matter what, and is close to being the most successful coach of recent time.

If Hasler was to follow the roosters lead in getting rid of players that play up, I highly doubt Manly would be in the hunt for another premiership.

My message is in reference to Bondi-Boy's comment a few weeks back that Alan Jones wouldn't just get rid of players with social problems - we need to look after young men etc. It has nothing to do with my opinion of Jones himself.

My first thought when I read the headline was I bet Alan would prefer it was Carney on Jones.

        Chook.

You have got to be kidding right?
Or do you not know who Wayne Bennet or Craig Bellamy are?
Hasler has a much better squad to work with than the latter, and this year (even if Storm don't beat Warriors) proves it.

They say the spine is important these days.

Two out of the three players in the spine are the best players IN HISTORY in those crucial positions.

              Cronk aint that bad either.

              I wouldnt mind that squad.

Having said that, I believe that Bellamy is the best coach by miles (though his wrestling tactics bore the hell out of me).

He said close to and Bellamy hasn't achieved shit so not sure how that qualifies as being 'successful'.

I agree with dice, Hasler has built a squad up there that all want to play together and for their coach. He's got it a lot easier because no one gives a shit what happens up north but I'd take his practices and opinions over Jones.

I always recall one day i was walking down king st in newtown

There was a car with a bumper sticker ..... it read .... I dont listen to Alan Jones and I vote ..... I walked a little further crossed the road still on king st and a gal had a t-sirt with the print .... no person is born racist

I learnt a lot from that walk.

Beware of people like Alan Jones and his gender driven comments ... When he was associated with souths he continually supported a player by the name of Julian o 'neil ... his actions at times were that of myles and carney combined ... yet he passes judgement on Todd

                      Like I said

Jones can go and punch a hole in some other clubs doughnut, he is a dribbler in more ways than one.

hmm... let's see. Manly had not made the finals for several year pre-hasler. He takes them to seven consecutive finals, including one premiership, one grand final loss against a team who cheated the salary cap and took out his best player, and current favourites for this years premiership.

Bellamy has coached a team of salary cap cheats. Bennett has basically has the entire Qld SOO team for 20 years and made the grand final 6 times. Roosters made the grand final 5 times in 11 years. Manly might make the grand final 3 times in 5 years?

The only freakish stat Bennett has against his name is his conversion of grand final victories. Having seen the refereeing decisions that have gone his way in the last two of his grand finals victories, I think the one thing Bennett has over the other coaches is the ability to intimidate and exploit referees.

If you asked me which coach I would want at the Roosters, I would say Hasler for sure. He has built the most balanced and united team in the NRL.

good post and good point regarding Julian O'Neil. What a scumbag he was. That aside, I actually used to work with Julian O'Neil's mother-in-law a few years back. She didn't think he was too bad from memory, bit of a larikin, treated her daughter well. Not sure if any of you remember but sadly their young child was killed in a household accident. The kid managed to pull a large TV off a stand and was crushed. Very sad story.
