This brings up the whole question of whether your career...ANY career...comes before family.
All players have family or friends with problems. All sportsmen in fact...eg cricketers who have to
go overseas.
It's time rules were implemented to cover this because some situations are used as excuses.
Why a player would train and compete in a sport at the highest level and then turn down
the opportunity to represent his country is beyond me.....it's treason, I reckon!
What sooks indeed.......and to have those words with Gallop at what should have been a wonderful time??????

When we talk about why players may not make playing for Australia their top priority we must remember the fact that the pinnacle of this sport is at a state level and not an international level. Rugby League is not really an international sport and over the years playing for Australia has become less and less important. Of course the Kiwis have been beating us recently but International Rugby League test matches and the World Cup is a long way from SOO.
