Former Sydney Roosters star Todd Carney looking set for move to Cronulla Sharks


Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan will meet with Carney's manager, David Riolo, either today or tomorrow, when it is understood the Sharks will table a two or possibly three-year deal.

The Sharks will, however, insist Carney agree to a number of strict discipline clauses before signing the former Roosters and Canberra star.

NRL chief executive David Gallop will also interview Carney before registering him for what could be his final chance in the NRL.

If Carney is signed by the Sharks he will be lucky to last the preseason without breaking most if not all of the behavioural clauses in his contract. As Dice says, Carney is a pisshead. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be capable of doing it on the quiet - he seems to enjoy being the centre of attention. He is easy fodder for the media because he won't pull his head in.

None of his clubs so far have been able to control the bloke's attitude long term. His manager also seems incapable of it. The Sharks do not have a great record in the behaviour stakes as it is. Carney will just add to their issues.

I was never a fan of these bullshit alchohol bans and such, and i was, and still am devastated that Carney is gone but PWN is right. When companies start threatening to pull multi-million dollar sponserships you just can't justify keeping him.
