As ticket said the line between news and the editorial line is increasingly blurred. In my view there is no room for opinion in news outlets. It loses trust amongst readers, especially when it is either blurred, wrong or both, and it defies the purpose of what traditional media should be. My view of the media is as guardian, who has no particular side except when corruption is apparent. Then the opinion can come out all guns blazing. In the case of the pokies reform, it isn't corrupt, just controversial because of notions of a nanny state. They shouldn't be taking sides to push a political agenda.

There is no room for opinion from the media, and there is no room for agendas from the media. Best thing I have ever done is to pick and choose my news sources, read what they say, and then find out the full story afterwards. So maybe you are right. Maybe it is a fairytale and I am holding people and corporations up to my own standards.
Thats how it works, or what people should do.
The media are never going to have the full story because they are just not interested in all sides of a story, its $ driven and what they think will sell or get ratings.
We can't expect them to hold corporations or anyone else accountable when they do everything without accountability themselves.

I think there is nothing wrong with them mentioning politics in the coverage.

It's wrong when they don't distinguish. It's in the television Code of Practice.

                I agree with you.

They should not be talking politics on a sports show.

                    One thing is for sure.

There needs to be a major overhaul of league coverage on 9.

The rubbish they serve up now is unwatchable.

I'd prefer to have Gould and Rabbits spruke anti-pokie law opinons than waffle on about frickin seagulls.

And what I'd like to know is what Wilkie and his anti-gambling mates are going to do about mobile betting, ads for which are saturating both TV and radio and as far as I'm concerned, will cause a shyteload more harm to gamblers' finances than the bleeding pokies, as it is totally unregulated.
