  • Tim Moltzen

This bloke has to be kidding doesn't he?

The situation for those that don't know is he signed a 3 year deal with the Drags a few months back...Wests gave him permission to do so and both camps are happy.

Then Moltzen has recently begun to carry on about how he now doesn't favour the idea of moving to the Illawarra - mainly because his decision was made irrationally at a time in the season where Wests weren't performing - and now want to seemingly renege on the contract that has already been authorised.

Now in light of that grub Robert Lui's actions, it seems Wests now want him to stay..claiming they never let him go, when in actual fact, they gave him inalienable permission to do so halfway through the year.

This whole situation is a shitstorm.

What is the value of a contract these days? Why should a player be allowed to venture to whatever association he pleases, just because he may be happier in one environment in compassion to another?

If the Drags don't make a stand then we may as well throw out all contracts and let the players pick and choose where they play on a whim. If Moltzen is so adamantly a Tiger, let him sit out the 3 year contract and play park footy for Wests then. A contract is a contract. Time to make a stand and make it clear that this type of situation won't be tolerated.

      I get it.

Why the fuuck would anyone want to go to St. Shit after Bennett has left? You've got to look at Soward's head every day and be part of the next thirty years of choke.

I'd stay at the Tigpies too, outside or inside Benji with a pretty decent looking team.

        True..but it's a matter of precedence.

This situation is a perfect opportunity for the NRL to re-invest faith in the contractual system.

What precedence? Do you mean a matter of principle?

If it's a matter of principle, I couldn't give two shits about contractual transparency, and would much rather St. George get fuucked over.

No, precedence. As it'd set a standard for the maintenance of such regulations into the future - given such disputes in the past haven't been handled appropriately.

I'd much rather both clubs be fuucked over tbh. Moltzen aswell.

Best case scenario is both clubs cop heavy fines and face corporate law action for reneging on a contract without substantial grounds...and that over-rated pre-madonna Moltzen is banned from playing professional RL for 3 years.

The other side of this is that Saints signed him while he was still under contract to the Tigers without getting a formal clearance first. If they had have done the job properly then this wouldn't be an issue now.

I suspect this reflects the general lack of professionalism in club and player management.

That is ridiculous, and should not (by law) and will not happen. Although I also agree that Moltzen is overrated, and not worth the fuss.

I can't see him leaving Wests. The Merge should cut their losses and persist with Kyle Stanley.

Half way through the season Sheens tells Moltzen he's free to negotiate with other clubs as he is not wanted at the tigers in 2012, So Moltzen"s manager gets him 3 years at st george. Tim willingly signs the contract...later in the year LUi bashes his misses on a mad Monday rant, the Tigers board have no option but to sack Lui as it's the second time he has assaulted her. Tigers shit themselves not having a halfback for 2012, so plead with Moltzen to change his mind... Is that how it went ???

Except the release from the last year of his contract was never formalised.

precedence has already been set with other examples, with differing results. So it isn't a matter of precendence at all.

Its a matter of people doing what they should. But its not that easy, I certainly would not want a player at the Roosters that doesn't want to be here.

This is just another example of unethical player managers doing dodgy deals and expecting to get away with them.

Mind you the Dragons should have insisted on formal release papers from the Tigers back when Moltzen signed, and Moltzen shouldn't have signed anything until that was available.

As it stands, the only contract registered with the NRL for 2012 for Moltzen is with the Tigers. The Dragons cannot have their later contract with Moltzen registered with the NRL until there is proof available to the NRL that the Tigers have agreed to a release from that contract.

                            Just all round incompetence.

Moltzen will get what he wants.
