Should he stop drinking alcohol? ...probably.
Should the Sharks manage him by surrounding him with new mates who'll have a 3 drink limit pact and obey and police it amongst themselves?
    Yes.
I dont know which part of "Problem with alcohol" you dont understand. When Carney stands in front of the world and says he has a problem with alcohol, it means the problem needs to be sorted out. ALL alcohol problems are only sorted out when you STOP DRINKING ALCOHOL. Obviously Carney - doesnt want to stop the problem or he completely lied to a judge and he has no problem with drinking.

Either way he is a dickhead, and so are you for defending the little shithead.

He has done plenty wrong. A self confessed alco, continuing to drink, and feeding the problem is wrong. And there's no amount of splooge you can pump on a Wall poster of Carney, that will change that.
Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

He wanted a buzz now he is with Buzz .Cronulla's end is near.
I''ll never forget when at aCronulla game with Ghost we bought a few beers at the bar and the Cronulla fans were yelling at us "are we saving that for Carney" etc bla bla ,Ghost stood up to em all four of them .Lets see who is laughing now.

It would be a worry fro the Sharks if Albert Kelly, Isaac Gordon and Ben Pommeroy were those standing around him

How sad is it that we are talking about a supremely talented 25yo athlete and having to have people supervise him 24/7 because he can't go without a drink.

The drinking isn't the problem, its what the drinking indicates and what amount of respect he is showing for the people that are giving him ANOTHER chance.

Anyway, as I said, at least he's not our problem anymore.
Exactly. He can talk the talk but still hasn't learned to walk the walk. I think everything that can
possibly be done for him has already taken place.
Sadly, he will eventually see that his empty promises will ruin his relationships with sport and other people.
What a waste of talent and the opportunity to set himself up for the rest of his life!
And what would hundreds of other kids give to be in his place!

You cannot go to prison for a misdemeanor regardless of how many times you commit it. This is what people have nfi idea about. It was a fn misdemeanor... unlike Matthew White who committed a criminal offense for high-range drink driving.

I recall the telecrap and several idiots on this forum who bagged roosters for their "lenient" treatment of Carney, went on to congratulate the Titans for their piss weak punishment of a criminal offense. It was a hypocritical disgrace.
Anthony Whatnow would be a better example, from a woman beating, drink driving alcoholic speeding hoon to a saint because the Manly club stood firm and ignored all outside influances and media agendas.

Carney unfortuantely is a grown man with the mentality of an easily led 16 yo child

It is not because he gave up drinking. He did not need to..

It seems overkill to me. You lot are praying that he f%&ks up at the Sharks. Really he had a drink with Nate Myles, big deal. They haven't started training yet. I'm dissapointed in Carney from a Roosters perspective but only because he broke a team agreement, he didn't break any laws. I'm not going to deathride him. What he has done is not that bad.

The thing that is also a factor.
Whatmough's carryon and drinking did not affect his game nor that detrimental to his team mates.
Carney's drinking affected his game, look how he was last year, crap and it also affected his team mates in that the majority wanted him gone. <- you may not love it but thats the fact jack

Agree Kingbilly, the bit that seems to be missed in the whole discussion is just how terrible his footy was this year. A footballer who can only play well when the sun is shining and birds are singing.

He will come a cropper, sooner rather than later and we are well rid of him.

Exactly, Carney is a player who is only at his best when everything is going his way and the odds are stacked in his favour. And life just aint like that long term. Carney has to learn that life has its fair shares of ups and downs and that you can't self destruct whenever things aren't going all your way.

Life for the bloke won't be perfect at the Sharks, that much is certain - be it injuries or form or simply the pressure of being the 'saviour'. And I'm not sure he will deal with that any differently than he did at the Roosters - by hitting the booze.

Its was pretty obvious to me that Carney lost form before the semis last year ,ie that his drinking started again a few rounds before hand like your Messiah Fittler the **** went missing on the Grog -he was amiss in the semis and terrible in the GF
Once a **** always a **** we put too much faith on the prick and if those in the know new that he was and still played him them should be shot.
I dont think their is any thing wrong with the coach or a majority of his players bad management hanging on to the great white hope.
