  • And won't it be a tremendous day...

When this cancerous, lying, two-faced, manipulative, scheming, corrupt, arsehole infested organisation finally leaves our great game for good. I never thought I'd see the day when this c*nt of a company has it's strangle hold over our game removed.

NEWS Ltd will exit rugby league within the next few days, 16 years since the Super League split.

The media company, publisher of The Daily Telegraph, is close to signing off on all relevant legal documentation before walking away as early as this Friday.

It is understood News Ltd has internal plans to depart rugby league by the end of the week but delays in processing the complex legal paperwork mean it may take until Tuesday.

Either way, News Ltd and the ARL are within days of handing rugby league over to the independent commission.

Commissioners may not necessarily start the same day News Ltd leaves but the new era isn't far away.

"We hope it is sooner rather than later - we want this to happen as quickly as possible," ARL chairman John Chalk said.

"We are hoping for next week but, at the moment, we're really in the hands of the lawyers."

News Ltd formed the Super League breakaway competition on April 1, 1995. In 1998, News Ltd and the ARL merged their competitions to form the NRL.

No longer will this media company be able to use it's influence to talk down our code in the lead up to broadcast negotiations.
No longer will this prick of an organisation be able to negotiate on behalf of itself to rip our code off of much needed funding.
No longer will the adminstration of our game be beholden to the cadre of criminals that make up this media whore company.

Now if only Rupert would die in a firery plane crash could I safely say this year has truly ended on a high.

    Chook.

It will be a good thing.
But just as important is to get rid of Ch9 from the game as well

In a nutshell, no vested interests.

Yes it is great, but surely you don't believe that people will not still have vested interests..

Not at all. Wherever you have a boardroom, panel, commission, department or organisation there's a vested interest. My point was aimed directly at Noise Limited, but you already knew that.

Whilst News has an ownership share in at least 3 of the NRL clubs (NQ, Broncs and Storm) it will always have a vested interest in the NRL.

And you are right KB, it would be a bonus if Channel 9 lost the broadcasting rights under the new deal but I doubt it will happen. And we'll be stuck yet again with their less than average free to air coverage of the game in general.

Oh well, we can't have everything. I'll just have to keep lining Rupert's family coffers with my Foxtel subscription.
