"I grew up in Robertson, not Bowral, so there's a mistake already," Hindmarsh said. It was an odd story. When I'm ready to go, I will let people know."

My only thought was that this thread is absolutely non-rooster related

I can tie it into the Roosters. He was on offer to us back in the late 90s.

We, the collective we, said no.

Absolutely. He was the prototype of the edge-running second-rower that Smith loves, and he reeked havoc out wide in the 2001 Eels team that smashed the all time NRL point-scoring record on their way to the minor premiership. Full credit to him that when some injuries began to slow him down, he was able to re-invent himself as a grinding, workaholic, tight back-rower.

Smart guy too. He has more than once publicly voiced his opinion that Smithy is the best coach in the game!

They have a lot in common, they're both probably going to retire without a premiership.

Hehehe. I've mentioned that on here once before Smithyfan and it didn't go down too well. Yes Hindmarsh I think said Brian is the coach who has taught him the most. If it wasn't for one Andrew Johns both he and Smithy would have had their premiership back in 2001. I think Hindmarsh can forget his premiership dream now though, but here's hoping Smithy's still in with a chance

Problem was, he made his team lazy while they sat back & watched him do the hard yards the useless mofos.

Except that there is nothing likeable about Andrew Ryan (and he played for the Bulldogs).

Actually the article was in the SMH which is a Fairfax publication.

News Ltd does not have the monopoly on printing untruths, Fairfax is a regular culprit as well.

+1 I always hated Ryan, even when he was at the Eels, maybe it was his Stewie Griffin shaped head
