Where NRL clubs have more members than their grounds can accomodate?

    http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/l...221-1tluh.html

The NRL is tipped to surpass 200,000 club members before the start of the season, but the rapid growth in numbers, already up 10 per cent on last year, is casting a dark cloud over the long-term future of the competition's boutique suburban grounds.

The Tigers' Leichhardt Oval and St George Illawarra's WIN Jubilee Oval are the two grounds most likely to become the first membership-exclusive in the NRL if their memberships continue to increase at the rate they have been.

I know it's plagiarised from the AFL, but the promotion to be a financial club member is a fantastic idea and one that is already paying off for a lot of clubs. I wonder how long it will be till NRL membership numbers surpasses AFL?

    Chook.

Further proof that the games leaders are not planning for the future.
This new commission needs to start addressing the basics right from the get go.

Whatever happenned to clubs having to have designated under cover seating and minimum standard facilities for grounds anyway?
It's a great atmosphere at Leichhardt but as stated in the article the days are numbered as the peak has been reached and fans are now starting to miss out.

The local grounds are fine for games against interstate clubs that don't bring a huge supporter base with them, eg; NQ, Storm, Titans etc.

But they should not be used for games between Sydney sides which are a chance to draw a decent crowd, espec Round 1 when supporters are desperate for a game of footy and are more than likely to want to attend. Those games should either be held at the SFS or, ufortunately, ANZ.
