I agree Mickie. Goal kicking is part of the spectacle and enjoyment of the game. It would be a shame to see the art of it die out. The game has already had enough unpleasant changes as it is. I always enjoy watching the conversions no matter who is playing. Yes Hazem was one of the very best we've been lucky to witness. Mick Cronin was a childhood favourite of mine and Steve Rogers was very handy too.

Goal kicking is much an art as try scoring, Michael Gordon's two side line conversions off the sideline from opposite sides to send the game into extra time in Adelaide against the Storm in 2017 is evidence of that and we scored less tries that night and still won. Bad luck if a team has a goal kicker missing or a second string kicker if their main kicker is missing, its part of the game and also if a team gives away penalties in goal kicking range and they lose its not the oppostion's fault.

I think teams could do more when it comes to kicking off. Why teams dont master the high shallow kick off mystifies me especially when the opposition teams position themselves for the deep kick off. Master the grubber kick from the kickoff's where it bounces over the touch line. Master the grubber kick into the in goal so you get the repeat set. If you do the long kick off master the art of hitting the up right. These professional footballers should be able to do that.

when latrell walks back after going for a conversion he's always very slow and doesn't have his eye on the ball. when we play souths in the gf and he converts to make it 10 all i reckon we should exploit that

            With 3 minutes to go.
Hutch sees what you have said because he comes on the Chookpen & read your post so he puts in a mid deep extra high kick off to where Trell was suppose to be & Toups regains possession under enormous pressure 3 players around him but he gets the ball away to Manu who shimmers across field passing to Teddy who breaks the line & draws the FB Latrell & passes it to the rookie 19 Yo halfback who plants it down & wins the GF.

            Post match interview
Interviewer "how does it feel to be the first ever 19 YO rookie playing halfback to win a comp?"
Sam Walker "I would like to thank Mickie Lane for all his support"

it adds to the argument that goal kicking has more to do with the earlier history of the game. the game has evolved from that
I would say it was based on Football/Soccer scoring that tries were worth zero points and goals were worth one point - same as a goal in football/soccer is worth 1 point

The term try comes from try at goal, signifying that originally, grounding the ball only gave the opportunity to try to score with a kick at goal.” Back in the old days, a try was worth no points. A try became valuable on its own in 1890, when it was worth one point.
