  • Tigers rorting the system.

Why is it that the Tigers get to de-register Simon Dwyer until he gets his injury right and doesnt go against there salary cap?

But the Roosters have always kept Anthony " Ill take your money but never play another game " Cherrington on there salary cap.

Its also funny Simon Dwyer was standing in the coaches box on Friday night behind Sheens.

    DODGY.

He has been de-registered, and as such is free to sign with whichever club he so chooses. If they took this step prior to his contract running out, then it would have been with the agreement of Simon himself. Essentially they fired him, he stopped drawing a salary and thus no salary to count towards the cap.

The Tigers DID keep him on the books for an entire year when he couldn't play prior to this though, so I would suspect he'll show some loyalty to them and if he can ever play footy again will sign a new contract with the tigers.

With Cherrington, I'm assuming we either did not want to take the risk of releasing him into the wilderness given the risk he could just go somewhere else, or Cherrington himself would not agree to be released and instead wanted to continue to be paid his contracted salary.

Well Cherrington hasnt played for us in like 4 years and has signed an extension since his last game so im guessing he is on a winner and Roosters managment is F***ing disgraceful.

i think the part that should be questioned here is that he has been de registered, but still has a role within the football club, hence he is still getting paid, but his salary is not counted to the salary cap. they now have room to sign someone else with Dwyer waiting in the wings.

Can you imagine the uproar if we did similar with cherro?? Cherro gets de rgistered, works in marketing for the Roosters and the roosters say we will sign him back up if/when he is fit ???

the rugby league world would be up in arms of the Roosters blatant slary cap breaching !

There is nothing stated that he is no longer being paid by the Tigers. In fact i would be pretty certain they are legally liable to pay out his contract. The only thing is that he is no longer being paid in his capacity as a footballer. Being de-registered only means he is not eligible to play NRL football.

Providing he is completing a fair days work for whatever salary he is still drawing from the club then there can be no argument against it.

If they sign another player to replace him, that means if Dwyer ever comes back they will need to release someone else to bring him on board, so the tigers are not really benefiting much from the situation.

I'm sure they are liable, although Dwyer and the club may have come to a mutual agreement to reduce his salary back to something more in line with whatever role he now has at the club (I'm guessing it would be a mix of some assistant coaching as well a bit of marketing)
