With all the rumblings on the signings front I watched the show last night for the first time and offer the following observations.
1. Matty Johns is a tool; in fact a super tool. There are ways of asking questions that obviously elude him. Trying to portray himself as a hard hitting journo is funnier that anything he has ever done on TV. He has become a caricature of himself. Very disturbed and disturbing.
2. Was impressed with the way Robbie Farrah handled the situation. Well done Robbie.
3. Equally impressed with Ben Ikin. Speaks well (must have got that from his father in law) and intelligent. Good observations and comment.
4.This is the most important one. In the show last night they showed a couple of examples of foul play. One example, a tackle on Lama Tasi, epitomises what is wrong in the game and why Melbourne win and we don't. In the tackle Tasi is turned around so that he is facing our goal line then he gets heavily kneed in the calf or achilles by Sika Manu.
I can grin and swallow the wrestling tactics but the kneeing is another manner.
So here is an open challenge to any trolls, journos or NRL officials who read this site. Do something about it and do it now.
NRL has footage and should act immediately as well as reviewing other examples and impose heavy penalties on players and coaching staff. No point of debate here. It is illegal and as it is coached should attract the same penalties as if a club broke the salary cap. My point is Melb got caught with the cap so they are trying new ways of cheating via actions that could damage a players future.
If the NRL as too gutless to act then journos rather that writing about who had a drink with who follow this up with the rigour of a true journo. There is a Walkley in the offing.
5. Did I mention that Matty Johns is a tool?
