  • Michael Lett

This kid has made at least one linebreak in EVERY game he has played for the Dragons, has a great workrate, pace to burn, solid defense, and a surprisingly good jump under the high ball.

Why did we let him go?

Mack don't you start with the "why did we let him go" line.

Lett did nothing at the roosters, Lett did nothing at parra, and until last season he did nothing at the Dragons.

Lett is only doing something because 1)SOO players are out and 2) he is playing in a bennett coached team.

Lett is a depth player at best, even in our squad I reckon he'd struggle to get run on the wing.. Perrett, SKD, Towers & Earl

Some kids become late bloomers because they dont have the right mentality eg Soward ,Lett and many many more.Shillow is 10 years in the making his still not a world beater but he will become a decnt prop.
Our club doesnt show patience and Nick thinks he can always buy the player to fill the void.
This time we build the kids have some patience then fuill the odd gap with some quality players.
Thats all it take quite simple really.
We have planty of cash but no brains .

What a myth... we can't keep them all you realise.

Perrett - persisted with and finally paying off

Shack - persisted with through average performances and injuries, has shown what he's got.

Paea - debuted back in 03, only hit his straps last year and to an extent in 07

FPN - every fan had written him off last year and at the start of this year after his trial form.. club/freddy persisted and payed off.

For every Scott Porter there is a Lopini Paea. No one has a crystal ball and some use hindsight in an unfair advantage against the club at times even though more often than not they were calling for one of these guys heads.

Brain hit the nail on the head there.

Our club just isn't willing to persist.

We throw them in, if they don't develop fast, we are quick to either release immediately, or sign an established player ahead of them leaving our own talented rookie to dwindle in the lower grades while an overpaid signing duds out in first grade.

I really hope that O'Sullivan places a lot of faith in Pearce, Friend, Perrett, Kenny-Dowall, Nuuausala, Cherrington, Warea-Hargreaves, Williamson, Jones, Symonds, the Cordner boys and the Aubusson boys. They are the building blocks, which will be brought together hopefully by Minichiello, Anasta, Myles and Paea - who are now the established players in our team.

Sa needs a firm kick up the ass - the guy has been in the team for ages, but still isn't aiming up. The fact that Cherrington and Symonds have outplayed him in far less opportunities is showing that Sa might not be the success story we are hoping, but rather a Soliola-style flop. Next season should be his last chance, and if he fails, the Cordner boys wait in the wings!

              Clearly you are a fool.
We sit last on the table, the club is in tatters and you are defending the recruitment policy??

              Are you on the board??
              You should be.

Nah, lets get rid of Hannant, Harrison, Lett, Soward.
Lets not know what it means to nurture kids like Hodges and Winterstein.
              Lets run last.

Lett's biggest issue when he was here with us was his injury that saw him out for pretty much the whole 2006 season. It ruined any chance he ever had of really breaking first grade here. He needed those extra few years to put on the bulk required for first grade. Lett would make many first grade sides now, he can't find a spot at the dragons because their backline is just way too good.

More importantly, why did we let go of Soward again?

I believe my brother from another mother, Bruce Lee had Lett picked as a future international. Rusty laughed. Who's laughing now plough boy?

Bruce Lee and Melon... also had Soward pegged as a reserve grader this year, their form in the tipping isn't all that great

and Ricky Stuart... I would take him back in a heartbeat when compared with the guys rooster6 puts up.. I doubt Earl could break wind let alone a linebreak and Towers is very inconsistent in NYC.. Lett years ago was a cut above in that comp and was as good imho as Minichiello was at the same age..

He had knee reconstruction which saw him miss 2006 and lacked self belief when he came back.. Mini really kicked on though and I don't think Lett would ever have got to that level but is clearly better than Earl and Towers. He also has more smarts than SKD and a lot more pace.. SKD is good from dummy half and a good finisher but doesn't have any football awareness at all.
