I'm sure O'Sullivan is looking at a lot of these players but the problem is they are all probably under lock and key for the next few years so we can't really attempt to poach any of them.
Apparently we chased Kevin Gordon, but he stayed at the Titans for absolute peanuts because he loved the culture at the club. Something around $30,000 per season. David Mead and Kevin Gordon are great on the end of two offloading centres in Brett Delaney and Esileki Tonga.

I would definitely be happy if we picked up someone who can just score in tight situations. Try sneaks like Roberts, Merritt, Low, Duffie, etc.

Would definitely have loved to have either Mead or Gordon. Two great players with some serious gas on them. But if sure the rest of 15 clubs would love to have these two as well. We've just got to trust in the ones we've got there at the moment and the ones coming through and hope that they'll come through and turn into good players for the club.

Out of all the young wingers we have Mack (Earl, Towers, Tuigamala, Moeakiola, Blair, Williamson etc. excluding Waqa, Perrett and SKD), who would you think has the most potential, and why?

And if you could buy a young winger from any of the clubs in the NYC, who would it be and why?

        • Williamson is a centre, so no go on that. I haven't seen Moeakiola at all. Earl has never been that good even in the NYC. Tuigamala looks a nervous wreck that can't handle the pressure of first grade in the way that Gordon and Mead have (although he does clearly have plenty of pace). Blair is a talent but to me is a LOT like SKD - tall, rangy, and a physical specimen, but his acceleration isn't too good. Great talent though.

Luke Towers, in 10 games this year at fullback/wing has made 5 linebreaks, 5 tries, 52 tackle breaks, 17 offloads, average 16 runs for 149 metres. He can also kick goals. In his brief 3 game stint at halfback, we have lost 1 game and won 2, his defense has been sound, he has shown to be able to pick his runs well, and know when to kick and pass, and has come up with 3 try assists and 2 linebreak assists - our regular halfback Brad Murray has, in 12 games, earned himself 6 try assists and 4 linebreak assists. I know he isn't as consistently devastating as Lett was in Flegg in 2004 and 2005, but out of who we have now, he has the best workrate (makes more runs than Earl), great pace, good linebreaking ability, and has ball skills.

Out of the others, well I don't really know if Thomas Ah Van, Bill Tupou or Joe Vickery have the physical qualities to make a first grade player, even if they have the try poaching ability. Gardner is already off to Sharks, and Jharal Yow Yeh may score tries by the bundle, but his defense and workrate are relatively poor. Fai Fai Loa is pretty much just like SKD - bomb target, and high workrate. Morgan, Jerome and Duffie look like good prospects.

          • Williamson played wing for Australian Schoolboys. Would you consider playing him there in the NRL?

How do you rate Earl from what you have seen? I think he is pretty solid, does the job and holds his own. But doesn't necessarily make him a bad player, I like the look of him but he doesn't have the skills we're really looking for in a winger at the moment. But he is better than Tuigamala and Sisa Waqa.

I rate him as solid for a young player with limited 1st grade experience. He actually looks like he belongs out there. I am sure there were some questioning Michael Lett when he played his 1 0r two 1st grade games Yet now people ant him back.Go figure

It is the type of player though. Earl is always going to be a strong but safe outside back. Lett was always a lightning fast gamebreaker.

Earl could very well become a Pat Richards sort of player.

You have got a point. I rate him as a player, but as I've stated before he is just not the winger the club is looking for at the moment and I'm pretty sure his selection in first grade caught a lot of people off-guard.

I will be happy with that Grand Final winner and a also a try scorer in that GF

I must ask what games has Michael Lett broken ? I must have missed them

To be honest, there are not many options. Maybe Towers but he is more a fullback and should not be on the wing. Moeakiola is injured. Waqa and Tuigamala are both out of form and the only player I would maybe think to give a go on the wing that is available is Tu'u Maori. But like I've said before, I like Earl. Is safe and does the job.

                            • Mate, Towers would do fine on the wing. Had experience there before, and Roberts played at fullback before converting to the wing.

Mate in all honesty, Towers should be playing first grade now. But not on the wing. Move Perrett to wing and Towers slots into fullback. That way you can utilise his running game and his ball-playing ability. Also has a handy kicking game that can be a back up for Pearce if in trouble. He'd be a waste on the wing. Towers is one of those players that needs to touch the ball as often as he can.
