Even you must concede some of the try assists he's laid on this year have been brilliant, and not "lucky" as you put it.
Ive said, he is playing exceptionally well...in fact I dont think he can play better. ive also stated why. He has natural speed...you cant substitute that quality. Speed is King. The rest is well coached, and his confidence is teh key, and he's confident because teh big boys are looking after their little general. its really that simple. Most of his tries have been opportunistic, but when things are going all one way, your way, you make your own luck.

The downside....things evetually stop going your way. This has been proven over time.

I agree, just look at Pearce this year.

pearce has actually improved. and will keep doing so. imagine what he could do with decent coaching. i believe his improvement was due to Matt Johns earlier involvement. Then Fittler couldnt take it and Johns left. Freddy has been poison for us this year.

It seems to have crept in as this ever since i left....

some of their interpretations this season have bordered on idiocy.

Everybody is a bit harsh on Pearce. He is only young and can still be playing NYC. He will get better over time and I wouldn't want anybody else as our halfback. He is slowly improving each year and can be our halfback for the next decade. That stability in the crucial halfback position is extremely important and he is definitely the player we will be building our team around. Cut the kid some slack and give him a few years to prove himself. He just needs to right guidance. Look no further than Soward. At the Roosters, he was always one with potential but didn't really develop that well under our staff. Fast forward a few years and under the guidance of the Bennett, has completed turn heads all season. If we release Pearce now and he dominates in the next few years with another club, everybody will be calling for the sack of the entire club.

I know mate I'm only stirring. I still don't rate him anywhere near as highly as most of you lot, but he has taken on more responsibility this year. I still don't have a high opinion of his creativity however, he's not running it anywhere near enough.

                      100% spot on.

I cant be bothered with the other arguments anymore, we should all agree to disagree.

Time will tell in both players careers

For our sake i hope soon.

There's one other poster that I'd like to know what happened to and that is Hendo. If I remember correctly he actually knows Mitchell Pearce personally.

i can't believe how many people on this forum with short memories...Illawarra will choke come Sept - 110%.

How many times have they done it ??...

I can see it now ...16-12 down with 12 min on the clock...and they turn to water.

no little cat like soward will change that...when things go his way , he does his job , when the tide turns he is shit-kicker.

Illawarra/ St George ..yet to win a comp.

Its a shame that St George died....a real shame ...never to be seen again.

                              finished. Dead and buried.

                              Easts to win. Since 1908.

if you think that soward will be a better player than pearce ...you don't know rugby league.
