Sam Walker is 20 years old being asked to lead a team of experienced players around, he’s far from where he needs to be and is purely raw potential.
Brandon Smith is not a hooker and this has been Robinson’s crucial mistake for the season that he is too deep and has to see through.
Jarred is 34-35 and regularly missing games through injury and the fact our club still relies on him says a lot.
You are correct they are horribly out of form but 4 of them are 30+ age catches up to everyone and some of those players are on the decline it’s just the reality it’s not 2018-19 anymore some of them just aren’t as good as they used to be or as we think they are.

Regardless of how we take the field our squad is so superior, and after last games debacle there is no excuse for anything other than a win.
We will be lucky to win if the team runs out as per Tuesdays team list.

Then have a look at the starting front row. That is enough firepower.....

Watching the dogs play a few weeks ago they barely looked first grade standard.
However they do have a crack over the full 80 minutes so we really need to have pulled away from them on the scoreboard by the end of the game.
If it's close we could lose in the final minute ala the dragons game.Formerly Stringaz, from the old Wall!

The plot has been lost and then some.
Think Trent is trialling forwards in different positions so he can make informed decisions going forward.
If Trent has been watching last year's highlights reel he would see Suaalii starring on the right wing...which is the only position he should be playing...replaced by Young in 2024.
Ideally Suaalii would leave for Union at the end of 2023 season, surely some deal could be worked out.

Walker is a gun, you’re right, he is still very raw but he is unpredictable and attacks the game which we need, he just needs reps (in first grade).
I think Cheese can be a hooker, albeit not an 80min one. He just needs to run less and simplify his game, a bit of marker engagement wouldn’t hurt either. If he can add this to his tool kit, it opens up so much more of the field up for our halves. I’d also like to see him used like we did against South’s and bring him off the bench. I don’t know why we went away from a winning formula tbh, and it also saves a valuable interchange.
JWH is a club legend. His workload should be managed throughout the week to avoid injuries and so he can be maximised each game for 30-50mins.
All this just seems to me like issues with team cohesion, lack of technical coaching and individual form. Too many chefs in the kitchen and a few (Rads & Cheese IMO) need to take a backseat for the betterment of the team.Last edited by Qld Chook; 06-03-2023, 10:30 AM.

Be interesting to see if they play JAC and Pangai Junior.
IMO this game's gonna test our depth which includes the likes of Brown, Sitili, Egan, Pauga, Allen and Smith all slotting into the team.
Mase has been talking up this Doggies outfit on his poddie, noting that it's not just a new team... the culture is now one where he and SBW are being welcomed back as mentors.
I expect JAC and Pangai Junior to play. However, I get the feeling this is our game. We've had too many close upsets and games destroyed by shyte weather. After a much needed bye I expect us to rock up refreshed & play with a little bit more purpose.
