In the past it really didn't matter, because he was so quick and so good he beat his man almost all the time and created opportunity almost all the time.
With age, as with all of us, he doesn't have the zip he once did.
Still a very good player, but he really needs to focus on his passing game/ball play much more these days. He needs to evolve into an extra half/ball player, just like Slater did when he lost a yard of pace.
It's possible he is carrying issues with his knees we dont know about either. I believe had did 2 ACLs in quick succession back in his early career.
He ain't going to get any quicker either, so the sooner the better..... hopefully Robbo can have a hard chat with him.
The concerning part has been his defensive efforts tonight, the missed tackle on Cobbo, the slip for the Tabuai-Fidow try and then being out jumped by a prop forward on his own line.
These are as much about effort and composure as they are talent or form.
As a captain of the Roosters and Blues this is probably the most concerning part of his game at the moment.

With what’s been going on at The Roosters and after tonight I imagine he’ll be very down at the moment.
