The correct answer to this is "someone else ". Don't need a name, when the time comes.
If Robbo busts us back into a final 4 finish this year he deserves another crack. But if not we have under achieved 4 years running. It depends how many years running the club is happy to accept the status quo? 4, 5, 6, 7, 8? Dunno.
So its more about (1) is it time for a change then (2) lets get our man. Not the other way round.
“someone else” could be a greatly inferior option it’s easy to criticise and say someone sucks it’s much harder to often an actual solution which the critics rarely do. You say “let’s get our man” but don’t even know who that man is.

The problem is even if we do go down the path of change, there really isn’t any great candidates out there. I really can’t see Slater going anywhere bar Storm or a QLD club if he chose to branch out from Origin. Madge, Hasler, Flanno? I don’t think so.
But I don't see anything changing and Trent being around a few more years, his position isn't as safe as it was but he would be in the top 5 safest coaches currently in the NRL.
The only way Uncle Nick would move him on is if Bellamy was interested and than Trent would be given a director role of some kind.
Has the modern game moved past Trent? possibly as along with a few others.
Hasler was one of the top coaches 10-15 years ago but he seemed to not keep up with the modern game and lost his way, is Trent the same?
This years completion is the tightest I can remember bar the top 3-4 teams, a couple of wins and we are back in the top 8 and all this will be forgotten about.

Hasler would want to bring and control his entire coaching staff and talent scouts, as well as the salary cap and player retention and purchases. You reckon Nick would give him total control??
