I'm not a stats disciple like you King. I prefer to 'trust the eye'.

And what I've seen is a team that lacks confidence. They dont seem to trust their systems. Robbo speaks of clarity, but it doesn't show in his teams performances. They look confused and easily rattled.

Yes when they cross the stripe the Coach is directly powerless. However, his job is already done.

The things you mention where they are missing comes from lack of confidence and clarity. And that, definitely, is the responsibility of the Coach.
    Well said Jack!!!

Why would he want to anyway.
Not Robbo's fault rugby league was cancelled, replaced by rugba leeg, ...one ref, set restarts, new NRL management, circus music and streamers.
How many "6 agains" did West's get last night...10?

We just got rugby league sorted, b 2 b premierships, and it was cancelled.
We'd bought and coached to perfection players for rugby league, two refs and its rules.
Throw in Covid, add rugba leeg, the new "lightning speed" game, and we were seriously disadvantaged.
Cronk retired, Mitchell left, we lost Cordner, Friend, Maubs, JMoz, BMoz, Liu, SST, Keighran etc, plus Fitzy.

What's gone wrong at the Roosters?
        See above.

We're in the process of rebuilding.
        It can take a while.

I just want Robbo to explain his team selections.
Unfortunately there is no better coach waiting in the wings.

Cannot agree with you more . We have never been the same club since V’Landys came into power he has alot to answer for , but he wont he is only interested in $$$!

Pre V’Landys we had this game worked out and all the teams feared us . This is not the case now.

If you want to look at the situation closely this is a fact. Vlandys mission was to stop the Roosters / Storm dominance. To speed the game up, less reliance on defence and more attack. This also included new rules for head knocks again changing the way teams and players need to defend. He went on record as saying he wanted to see a Souffs / Canberra GF. We ended up with B2B Riff premierships, something the NRL would have loved as it brought success to Sydney’s west. We have yet to adapt to the new style of game and Covid, constant injuries and suspensions from the new rules have plagued the team ever since the new rules were introduced mid-season 2020 mind you, making it hard to build and learn that new direction. Radley has basically been made redundant under the new rules. We are no longer rewarded for good defence but instead punished with 6 again calls. We started to adapt at the end of last year but that’s not translating again this year for whatever reason.

Sorry, every team plays under the same rules. I can't accept the conspiracy theories. We have an excellent roster, excellent facilities, there is no excuse for our poor performances and the buck stops with the coach.

The second sentence is irrelevant to me Ed as there may never be a "better Coach" on paper available. Does it mean we keep Robbo until he's ready for a nursing home?

I'm pretty sure Robbo wasn't a "better Coach " than Brian Smith when he replaced him.

That’s not the point I was making. I didn’t mean it to sound like a conspiracy theory. It was a fact that the game had become boring under the defensive winning cultures of us and the storm. All other fans would have found the game boring and predictable. Vkandys shook the game up to get rid of that predictability and make the game more entertaining. The rest of what I said stands. We have not yet fully adapted to the changes and constant interruptions from injuries and suspensions since the change has hindered that process.

The issues for me this year are:

Smith - hasn't gelled yet / injuries and may have off field issues? Dummy half is so important nowadays in touch footy.
                            JWH - injuries
Lodge - cheekbone and contract issues.
Crighton - off field stuff has faarked him this year
                            Stilli - returning from acl
                            Smith, Billy - acl again.
Keary - gun shy? Too many head knocks have made him fearful of taking on the line?
Walker - playing style isn't the roosters way? On the outer with Robbo / Keary?
JS - hasn't worked at centre and has Rugba U on his brain. Off at the end of the tear anyway.
                            Toops - injuries.
Manu - See Keary. Afraid of head clashes with his cheekbone.
Teddy - Getting too involved with every play, but he is the captain and wants to win.
Rads - Where do we start? Needs a complete makeover.

Robbo - Seems slow to adapt to new rules and has too much loyalty to certain players?

All this doesn't allow the team to function and play as a unit unfortunately.

Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah with Luke Brooks as our new halfback.

                              Scary isn't it?

Yes I think that pretty much sums it up. What a mess. We’ve also had 7 ACL injuries over a two year period from about mid 2020 to mid 2022. Most of those were to key players. Tell me another club which had that recently. That’s on top of forced concussion retirements. Then there’s key players getting older and at the back end of their careers. I really don’t care what the media or betting agencies says either as the so called experts always talk up the roosters and make us favourites the same way QLD are always underdogs and NSW favourites.
