I believe Ethan King ( normal fb) had an injured hand so he filled it.

And initially it was to accommodate young Sam Walker.

Why not? It’s all good experience.

I think part of the education of a halfback needs to be playing other positions to provide a different perspective.

Sandon Smith started out as a Fullback in Junior Reps- Central Coast Roosters Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16's)/ Harold Matts (Under 16's) - 2018 and SG Ball (Under 18's)- 2019

No Junior Rep comps in 2020

Switched to 5/8 for Sydney Roosters SG Ball (Under 19's) (2021) - Hugo Savala half back and Ethan King Fullback - Starting playing halfback when he played a few Jersey Flegg games after the SG Ball comp finished (2021) - that comp was cancelled though

2022 - half back for North Sydney in NSW Cup.

Going to be tricky retaining him though -Sandon is the type of half coaches really like -Organising and game manager types that can engage the line -i.e try assists and line break assists - has a sound kicking game and an accomplished goal kicker.

I think he would complement Walker well. Sandon controls and steers the team around, Walker plays a running eyes up game

I’d prioritise him over Walker every day of the week.

I wasn't against the move I just found it odd that it happened mid year when the team was struggling. Halfback to fullback doesn't seem like the usual positional swaps but it was pointed out by Salvo he has played there as a junior so that explains it.

The Kid Smith already looks a better prospect than the Turpin dude.

I can't recall Turpin doing anything this yr other than one in-goal repent set.

Whoever brought the Turps is on the Turps.

Turpin has been brilliant in defence for us, takes a lot of workload of our props, hits hard and some of his cover defence has been brilliant. In attack he just offers simple service but if it was the other way around and he was brilliant in attack and ok in defence people would be raving about him.

He’s a good squad player and far from our problem, defensively we were very solid through the middle today.

62 minutes for 50 tackles and 1 miss- Turpin did a real good job

Both Turpin and Sandon had super games (albeit Sandon's limited time). The Manu experiment hasn't worked and Allan's defence was atrocious. It's time to bite the bullet Robbo and try your luck at Sandon at halfback.
