I always wondered if he could've played a similar style to Wighton and just be a running 5/8. He's pretty quick off the mark and passes well, and wouldn't be a defensive liability. If he could have developed a little kick, I wonder how he would have gone.

    Interesting little thought experiment.
I reckon lock is his spot if he can get his head right, not quick enough for 5/8, no kicking game that I have seen, I absolutely thought he was the best lock in the comp back in 2019, he showed plenty of ball skills, toughness etc, if he han forget trying to be the INFLICTOR and just play footy he will be a star again.

Good shout. He is a better option than Manu IMO. But my preference is Keary/Walker combo.

I'd be happy for the Cheese to find another club. Money better spent elsewhere.
Couldn’t agree more regarding the Cheese. I think Turpin has been every bit as good as the Cheese this year, isn’t a flog & saves us about $500k. I rated Lodge last year but he’s a perennial perform when chasing a contract then stinks it up on big coin, it’s happened at all his clubs so far. I’d punt him & again save $500k on a younger bloke, or keep that money for N.Brown,Whyte etc. Then happily led Rads go as $700/800k for a dozen average games a year just ain’t worth it. Then by moving the Cheese/Rads/Lodge we would have $1.5 mill spare to chase some other blokes that couldn’t actually play worse. A backup hooker to Turps, for cheap, keep some young lads or see who’s available.

Don't get me wrong, there is plenty I like about Victor.

But with Watson, Cheese, Nat Butch and now Sitili able to do very good jobs in the lock role (without perpetually getting sent to the bin or penalising us out of the game), is there room for Victor moving forward?

He has turned into an incredible liability re the prospects of the team.

I once thought he could be a future captain, but it's clear he doesn't have the temprament....he cannot keep his head. He almost makes Luke O'Donnell look like a calm cool headed choir boy in comparison.

As was pointed out by a couple of observers, and which I somewhat agree with in the context of this season, we don't seem to lose much by not having him playing (and some argue its a positive by not having him on field).

Is there a future for him?
Is it just a bad patch and he'll settle and come good somehow?
What needs to happen to ensure his viability in the starting 17?

I'm a bit torn on this.
                      Stupid post.

We are a much better team when he is wearing the no.13

He's just a victim of the way he plays the game. Unfortunately he is struggling to come to terms with the changes he needs to make to his game.

We don't need the games best rake with the roster we have. I was surprised Robbo let Verrills go. He ticked all the boxes that were important to our playing system. Robbo now has another opportunity with Jake Turpin who would cost less than The Cheese with potentially more output.
