    1) price tag - signed by the dogs on 350k odd. for 250 it would be a yes. the fact he is still contracted for the next couple of years may mean they continue to pay part of his contract so may be that is realistic
    2) age - he is the perfect age and has the perfect amount of experience if you are looking for a long term prop (80 odd games of firsts this year, 24) but i feel that signing him would me we likely loose napa, tago, evans and maybe even tasi. someone around 28 would probably be a better fit. that said, i would be hard-pressed complaining if he came. im definitely a fan.

another prop who is off contract looking to be offloaded is poore. he will be 28 next year, good amount of experience, still plenty of footy in him and his form could mean we get him for good value. good be a smart pick up at the right price for a couple of years as our young pack continues to mature. could also pave the way for JWH to move into the backrow which i wouldnt be opposed to.

2 guys id definitely be looking long and hard at for next year is slaimankhel and paul carter/dale finucane. slaimankhel needs no introduction and with an ageing mini, an inconsistent wells and a very raw but versatile RTS, he could be a great pick-up considering he is also behind a few at the warriors. finucane is a really talented young lock forward at the dogs who is also behind a few and not getting a run. could be a smart purchase. even better though could be young paul carter. is a very tough lock forward not dissimilar to lou goodwin (also a country boy and son of ex-panthers player) who has played stacks of junior rep footy including an imminent appearance for the u20s state of origin this weekend. big motor, plenty of skills. bit of a new age paul gallen imo - ie gallen with a bit more gloss in attack. he is definitely behind a few at the dogs even in their 20s side and i do feel that we could do with a little more depth in this area.
I'm a massive fan of Tolman, think he should be playing for NSW by now but the signing would be disruptive to the development of our young props unless Smith was prepared to put one of JWH or Tasi in the backrow.

The one who's off contract for the dogs this year that I also have a high opinion of is Martin Tapau... he's constantly been over looked and wouldn't break the bank. He's got the workrate, power & is solid in defence.

After giving it some thought, I think there is an illusion as to the amount of money we actually have available to spend on big name signings. I know there is a new tv rights deal and so on but thinking about it, I don't that currently we are that far below the salary cap for 2013. If you look at most teams, at max they have 2 or 3 players who are being payed around 400k or above.

If you look at the players we have signed long term Pearce, JWH, Maloney, and SKD, they would all be earning over 350K each. Then we have at least around 7 players earning between 250-300K in: Aubo, MK, Friend, FPN, Bosden(who tinkler was chasing Hard last year), Taka, Symonds. Add to that Moga who would never sign a 4 yr deal before debuting unless he was guarenteed decent $$. Then next year we're going to have to sign Cordner, and Tasi, who will probably command similar $ as JWH , depending on their form.

All of a sudden it doesn't look like we have $800K to spend on marque signings unless the salary cap rises significantly, which has not yet be guaranteed. Players we should sign next year must be players which will not cut us back too much but guarentee to give it their all.

Nathan Massey has been stuck behind Dugan for a while now but has great speed and agility. He would complement Pearce and Maloney through the middle third of the field so I would sign him if he came cheap.

Another which comes to mind is Justin Poore. This guys career is at a crossroads because of the parra club mainly. Before going there he was in remarkable form and played in origin matches. He has the right attitude but signed with the wrong club. I would buy him if he came cheap also because you know he would give it his all and we need an experience forward on the bench. Smithy would use him well.

I think if Peni tagive is given time his football will improve and he may become an attacking option.Justin O'neil is also a good buy.He may come at an expensive price though. I don't want to buy everingham, because I don't want the vermin to complain about us taking him every time we beat them.

Massey hasn't been sighted this year even though Dugan has been injured. He appears to be behind Robinson and Ferguson as well as Dugan...

No I didn't say I couldn't remember, I asked for proof, not one name.

I know what happened. I also know that before and after those two lean years Watsa made the semis regularly even MPs on more than one occasion.

This all stems from your statement that Smiff makes dud signings. All I said is show me a coach that hasn't made some in their time.

You rewrite history to try and win arguments set up on mistruths Fredo.

Like how you supported Bwaiffs re-signing last year and now try to make out you knew all along he was a dud. Or how you shoot the messengers in Bwaiff, Smiff and Noyce among others, but wont admit Uncle Nick has been involved heavily in their recruitment.

Anyhow I'm over this. It's become boring cos you won't answer simple questions that arise from your mistruths and agendas. I won't be pursuing this anymore, that should please many.

Enjoy your season Fredo. Hopefully it won't take too long for you to realize your dream of another coaches sacking. Sadly I know whoever it is won't last long in your expectations. Then it will be more DeJaPoo.

            Adios cowby.

He made a couple of hit-ups in the souths game that looked unstoppable, and then he vanished..??
I don't think he has fully recovered either his confidence or his physical comfort-levels after his off-season neck surgery. I remember reading in one of those crappy emails the club sends out that he was told by the doctor he may have to modify his tackling technique, at least for this year, because of his neck. I don't think he is in prime condition to play, and is either still getting discomfort, or is not confident of going full tilt, just in case.

He either needs more time to rehabilitate away from the field, or to regain confidence via an extended run in the Reggies. Either way, I don't think we will see Mose at his best in the short term.

I think you are on the money Waylander.... He wasn't far away from forced retirement.. I think this has impacted on him more than expected.
