easy to criticise the coach when the team loses but how can people be so sure that alternative selections would have been better?
suaalii didn't set the house on fire at centre but maybe it was because he was out of form - there's no guarantee that he would have played better if he'd started the season at wing.
manu hasn't gone great at 5/8 but he wasn't going great at centre. he played a few games at 5/8 last year and killed it. it was probably part of robbo's thinking in dropping sammy that it would give manu a chance to get his hands on the ball and get back into form.
dropping sammy was controversial - and the injury an unlucky setback - but he wasn't playing great and the tactic of dropping future champions worked with latrell and manu. hopefully it works with sammy.

not saying that robbo got all of those calls and other calls right but there can be no proof that he definitely got all of them wrong.

How about something different - Support all the players and Coaching Staff.

Can't see certain folk abiding by any criteria for those they can or cannot incessantly dish on here though as they get their jollies off from it.

2010 - Assistant Coach to Brian Smith - 1 year

2013 to present - In his 11th Year

So in his 12th year in a Coaching Capacity at the Roosters

Coach Robinson, who is in his 12th year in a coaching capacity at the club, including life membership, deserves respect and has done more for the club than all of us put together, including Gerry, will ever do, and that is an indisputable fact.

Fair enough. I wasn't factoring in his position as assistant to Smith. You may want to mention 4 Grand Finals when you beat his drum. Is he the longest serving Roosters coach?

In our current team, I'd say only JWH and Toops would have such status. While neither are technically 1 club players... both really only technically played for other clubs, with their reputations being forged at Bondi.

Importantly both have won 3 premierships, ALWAYS performed well, played through painful injuries where necessary and taken unders to the club's advantage. 2013, 2018 and 2019 quite frankly... if Toops & JWH demanded market rate, we wouldn't have been able to afford the quality that we had.

Arguably Rads has been afforded a longer rope on the basis that he's a local junior, a fan favourite, has bagged 2 premierships and his single criticism is that he plays with too much passion. Billy Smith can enter this conversation too as he's never been dropped despite lotsa long-term injuries. On that note (and I think Mark Bouris has confirmed this during various interviews), I think our leadership team believes strongly in ENERGY. Personally I wouldn't call this sorta treatment a 'longer rope'. Rather... I think that our club wants people to turn up to training with the right attitude. If you look at Carney, Hastings, Nikorima, Flanno...etc, poor attitude is what'll get you ghosted by Robbo - he won't take shyte no matter who you are. On the flip side, if (like Billy Smith) you show up first to training bursting with positive energy/enthusiasm EVERY DAY despite being crippled by injuries, you will not get sacked.

So IMO nobody gets a 'longer rope', you've simply gotta have the right attitude. This includes putting it in at training... if you're a soft fark then it'll come through in your attitude as you won't put in enough effort to match your claim to a spot in the team. Latrell's an example here. He wanted to be our FB & earn $1m+ a year in the role but lacked the drive to lose 20kg and get himself in a position where he's doing 200m-300m a game. You'd love to keep him but if he's gonna be unrealistic in contract negotiations without proving he's willing to put in the hard work BEFORE demanding the big dollars & Australian captain's jersey at club level then IMO that's an attitude issue.
Good points Jizz man, but Carney was not here when Robbo took over as the top coach.

People should be allowed to express their views in a footy forum.

There is no right or wrong way to being a fan, as long as you don't go over the top with being a bigot, misogynistic, racial or hate speech and the like.

We might not have the rugby league intellect of someone like Robbo might not even have 10 percent of his knowledge etc. We may not have played league at the highest level etc.......BUT

Are we supposed to because of that just not have an opinion and comment when our team is not performing and the problems and possible solutions appear so apparent. Just suck it up and say yay we love our Coach and players when they are not performing.

A lot of us pay memberships, go to games put our hard earned towards giving these players and coaches a salary, but even if we don't, we are still entitled to an opinion.

                    Anyway man, Easts to Win!

How often has Radley been on the sidelines?
Agree 100%. Ive only seen Luke lose his cool once and that was against the Cowboys when as you say, he was sticking up for his captain in a prelim final. He was sent off for a head high against the Dragons in 1994 but thats the only other indiscretion I can think of. Radley however, we've all lost count by now.

Always cut some slack. As a long term supporter and a long term visitor to this site, now is the time to stick tight for our club.
Having supported our club since 1980, I am as we all should be, privileged to have lived through our incredible triumphs of the past 20 years. The transformation of our club from a transit lounge to the benchmark has been inspirational.
Trust me, I just like you, have been incredibly frustrated with our performances this year. Especially after the frustrations of the past couple of seasons & feeling that if only we had all of our troops on deck, we could have created a dynasty. Alas, it was not.
Yet, at the same time, we had blooded alot of young talent which as a collective, together with our returning troops we all thought we would be unbeatable.
If only life was that simple.
Trent and especially Uncle Nick have done an incredible job, however it is rare for such success to continue unabated.
                        OK, enough of the patriotism.
Let's pause for a second and consider some of the current issues.
We are chronically underpeforming right across the paddock and I think it is naive to think that with smoke there is no fire.
                        Some food for thought:
                        * There are leaks from current coaching staff
                        * There are strong rumours that certain senior players have fallen out
                        * There are other issues which have been alluded to on this site which have affected/impacted player performance which may yet be proven true
I feel we are at a crossroads and it will take strong management in order to see us through. I believe as a club, we are dealing with a number of issues which haven't impacted us for a no. of years.
We need to trust in Trent & Nick that they can turn the ship around. It's hard to fathom that there will be an immediate fix, but we have to continue to believe.
                        That is the Rooster way!!

You are a dribbler and will always be a dribbler no matter what account you use on here.

Express a view or opinion once or twice about players and even coaches but not as incessantly as what happens on here though - noting another thread dishing/bagging coach Robinson was started - how many more ?

I would rather stick with Coach Robinson than have in your words a bunch of folk without much rugby league intellect and not even 10% of Coach Robinsons knowledge being involved in any Football related decision making at the Roosters. i.e team selections - player signings and retentions / coaching appointments etc

As you said they and you lack the intellect and knowledge of the game so why would any of these opinions and solutions be of any relevance though in comparison to the decisions made by a coach who has this in-depth intellect and knowledge of the game.

It's not the 1970's / 80's etc when football clubs relied on poker machine funds . gate takings , chook raffles and what not to survive one has to say

Millions of people who don't even follow the game or any team would be more than likely putting much more of their hard earned into the game by being consumers of the products of the various League and Individual club sponsors - Businesses as well as consumers of these products

Where do you think the sponsors money comes from - thin air

List of Roosters Corporate Sponsors below

                            https://www.roosters.com.au/corporate/

                            NRL Sponsors

Telstra . Sportsbet, McDonald's, KIA, KFC, VB, McCain, Ford, Red Rooster, Harvey Norman, Chemist Warehouse and Westpac.

Notwithstanding the money the league receives from broadcast rights ( FTA/Pay TV/Radio) each year.

The clubs receive grants from the NRL to cover the salary cap of the NRL and NRLW each year plus an additional payment over these amounts - I recall 5 million extra above the cap in 2023 - there is a 5 million or so cap Football club Departments.

So basically if this grant figure above is correct the NRL grant covers players and coaches wages. Noting also the NRL pays for travel and accommodation when required.

As for Woods and Tedesco - Woods signed with the Bulldogs and Tedesco almost did - Anthony Minichiello was instrumental in the Roosters being able to sign Tedesco having played together for Italy in the 2013 RL World cup and also that Minichiello would coach and mentor Tedesco on fullback play.
