What's funny is where were these death riders in mid 2010 to early 2011??? It's only when we lose a few games that they come out. I'd hazard a guess that many of them actually supported Smiffs signing and game plans, selections etc in that period I mentioned.
Strange thing is we are still 4-3 this year, even though we've played badly. And that's above my expectations pre-season. I thought we'd start slower than we did and finish with our usual flourish.
But the death riders have been more vocal when we've won. Classic.
That makes me believe there is an agenda a few have been running. They seem to think it's a competition over sacking the coach, I've seen them post such garbage as "well we will see who is right" and "I bet I'm right" etc. Who in their right mind would get a woody over the coach being sacked??? It goes against the very fabric of being a fan IMO.
One day Smiff will either leave, not be renewed or be sacked. Then they will find pleasure. Then they will move on to the next coach, and I guarantee the first chance they get, the first bad run of form or time they disagree with a selection they will start it all over again.
I'm not responding to them anymore, on the Smiff topic. It's what they want, to count numbers and divide the fans to make themselves and their egos feel justified. It's not worth the effort IMO. But when we do have our wins I will still.

Can't wait to see Fred's posts when Smith has gone & the new coach is struggling.

It's the soft mentality in this club. It filters thru to our fans.
Always playing the blame game, always looking back and using hindsite to validate current events, always looking for the quick fix, always listening to the media and it's agendas and actually believing the shit they read or hear.
Funny thing is our club is IMO trying to correct it's past mistakes, building for the future with youth, re-signing the better players, letting Bwaiff go, letting blokes like Myles go who made it his mission to disrupt the team for his own selfish gains.
Smiff has his short comings sure, but there is no one better qualified to lead us along this process we are going thru ATM. He's done a similar job with every club he's been at and left them all in better shape than when he's arrived, and he's copped shit from within cos he does it his way, as AMY leader will do. He's already done that here IMO. I mean he took over after a spoon season.
But yeah when he goes they will just shift their focus to the next coach. It's the easy way out for the soft minded.
One of the funniest things I've read about Smiff from the agendaites here, is that Smiff likes to take control and not let others, including players, Run their own race. That's just garbage cos ANY coach that's not in charge will always struggle, as any leader will do. If anyone thinks Bellyache, Waynekerr and Hasler don't demand full loyalty and wouldn't punt ANY player who dared to try and influence the playing group against the coach, well they just don't know footy or sport or business in general.
IMO we are going in the right direction as a club. It will just take time and patience. Look at Melba in 03-05, debuted all the kids that got them here, weren't a consistent side but had some very good games and the signs of success were there. It just took some time and they built a dynasty. Gus did it here before 2000.

I really want to know what happens to other teams that, over the course of 130 games or so, each and every one of them improves their discipline, week after week, team after team (no matter how badly they may have been penalized the week before playing us and for the rest of the year for that matter), so that we receive 2 or 3 penalties over 80 minutes.
Please, I implore the frustrated would be coaches, managers and CEOs out there on this forum, just what can we do to improve this damaging statistic? Take your time, I have all the time and patience in the world for your solutions....

Consistently over the last 5 years, we have received less penalties than any other team. That has just as much of an effect on the outcome of the game as penalties we concede. Penalties conceded can (although I don't believe they purely are) be explained by our "poor discipline".

Wouldn't be a coach for quids.
I have seen very youthful, talented young men turned into old tormented wrecks.
Amazing how many friends & supporters you have when winning.
Watch that list drop to be able to hold a meeting in a phone box the minute you start to lose.
What's the word I am looking for?.....Rhymes with pickle?
It'll come to me....eventuallyLast edited by chook 56; 04-21-2012, 06:17 PM.

I am also shocked that we still have not taken any steps towards fixing the backline problem, Smith should have identified this before coming to Easts and bought a hand full of gun backs from the NYC back then so we had options this yr." A man can only walk as far as he can see"

Those four wins at the end of last year were shite. They were against shit sides or teams resting up getting ready for the business end of the season. They meant absolutely farrk all imo.
I'm sick to farrken death of people blaming Carney for a woeful 2011 season.
Infact, that there is Smiths biggest mistake....punting Carney.
I'll be waiting for your usual, clueless, boring old biddy response.

I am not saying sack Smith but I am def not happy with what I have seen. We look poorly prepared and unfit, we are trying to play a brand of footy that we are not ready for. The team should be fit and focusing on discipline they should be playing a defensive style game and working up from there. You need to start with the core just like Bennett does, we are trying to skip a couple of steps and that doesnt work.

I don't see you fit into the type of so-called fan I was on about.
Nothing at all wrong with constructive criticism and honest opinion. It's the agendas and death riding I was on about.
